Just finished chapter 3.
Okay wtf. The one character I could connect with died already? I appreciated how he realized his dream at a young age of becoming a soldier and actually committed to seeing it out even if it didn’t turn him up where he envisioned his path taking him.
I’m thoroughly enjoying the story so far as I’ve given in to the idea of not understanding everything initially presented to me. I’m not expecting my hand to be held. My favorite show of all time is the sopranos and one of my reasons for this is as an audience member we really feel like a fly on the wall observing the story taking the place, as opposed to being in the driver seat with the main character. I feel a similar vibe between Malazan and sopranos in that way. I’m excited to continue but Ganoes’ death threw me. On the opposite hand I love how this raises the stakes and drops you headfirst into this world of treachery and loss. Very cool
Theres a few moments that I really don’t understand. For example, tattersails’ card readings? Huh what is going on? And hairlock is now a wooden figurine? What lol. I guess I’ll just keep reading and find out!
