One from the Vault

Remember when ShenComix used to be Owlturd? I was a fan even then! So much so that I bought this poster when he used to sell online merch. It only took me about a decade to finally frame it and hang it proudly in my home. Love you, Shen!

What's Wrong Wih My Feverfew?

I started these from seed last year, and this is how their flowers looked. They look just the same this year, except with longer stalks. Their petals aren't al pretty and rounded like everyone else's that I see on here. Is something wrong with my Feverfew or is it some weird varietal thing?

We Have Lift-Off (Zone 5b)

I grew these from seed last year and saved the tubers. Looks like they're starting to turn out well, right? They're so much thicker and stronger than when I grew them from seed!

The Wonders of Sweet William

Funny story: I never once intended to grow Sweet William. I ordered carnation seeds online from what appeared to be a nursery..... or so they said. (Thegree grovegarden on eBay, for anyone curious. I tried communicating with them when I caught them lying, and they have not replied. Do not buy from them. They're clearly liars.) The seedlings grew big and strong, but all the first year, they never bloomed. It really had me scratching my head. Then winter came (zone 5b), and the foliage remained green all throughout, even when the snow melted back from time to time. That's when it occurred to me: these are no carnations. They were however a dianthus species. The one and only (to my knowledge) biennial variety that would survive down to zone 3: Sweet William.

That is how I have the ridiculous amount of it that I have today. And ya know what? It's gorgeous!! Just wanted to show off all the shades of it I have in my garden. ❤️
