How is imported meat fresh?

I know imported meat, into the US, especially beef is big business. There has been political talk about increasing imports to reduce record high beef prices.

It seems like by the time a cow is processed, put on a shipping container, shipped from say Brazil, hits the US shore and then distributed to the end user, it would take days even weeks.

Is it only frozen meat? Is it flown in? Can someone enlighten me.
