Starving on the liquid diet - Day 5

Hi all. I’m struggling on the liquid diet. It’s taking everything in me not to cheat. I am so hungry. I have 5 days left. I am pre op. It’s been so tough to stay motivated because my wife still eats normal foods and snacks. I remember my reason for doing it, which is why I won’t cheat. However, my brothers wife had this surgery and cheated on her liquid diet and she was fine. So it has me wanting to stray, but I won’t.

Everyone has said it will get better by day 5 but that’s not been the case for me.

I just need words of encouragement right now. I have no idea how I’m going to last 5 more days.

Chewing and Spitting during liquid phase?

Has anyone done it? I’m day one and I’m ravenous. No protein shake or jello is calming the hunger feelings. I have 9 more days of this and I don’t know how I’m going to last.

Is chewing and spitting during this phase okay?

Edit: I mean chewing food and spitting it back out.

Uber the day after procedure

Hi. Surgery is in a couple weeks and I keep hearing about how terrible the gas pain is. I will be in the hospital overnight.

My wife doesn’t drive and we don’t live near any friends or family so I will need to take an uber home.

Do you think an uber home is realistic? My insurance doesn’t cover medical transportation services.

Liquid diet - Able to drive/coherant

Hi all. One of my pre op classes got rescheduled to a day where I will be on the liquid diet and I am livid.

I don’t want to be driving around when I haven’t had food in days and I was planning on taking it easy and now they are forcing me to go to a class during it. Which pisses me off because before it was scheduled for Monday.

Anyway, I wanted to ask how you functioned on your all liquid diet pre op. Were you able to drive coherently? Function? I have to work the two weeks I am on the liquid diet and I am scared I will have brain fog and not be able to focus. I already get really sick when I don’t eat for a day.

Please only comment if you had a liquid diet. The other pre op diets aren’t relevant to me. Thank you.

I have been so excited to get surgery and haven’t even really been worried about death. It’s something that I haven’t thought much about. Until yesterday.

I follow a lot of gastric sleeve accounts on tik tok. On my main page, a video popped up, and it was of a girl posting her mother who died due to complications of the surgery. She didn’t specify whether her mom died in surgery or out but that made me panic. I hadn’t even considered dying before.

How common is death? Any tips to get over the fear after seeing that?

What is something you do to get the best deals on the shakes? I am struggling to find any deals. I will have to drink two a day and that looks like it will cost me over $100 for just one to one and a half weeks of shakes?

I’m in California and it’s very expensive.

How did you save on protein early on?
