Just diagnosed, what exactly is ureaplasma?
I got a call from my gyno that I tested positive for ureaplasma. I'm 23 and went in for my first papsmear and questions about how to get rid of some Molluscum Contageosum on my butt.
I said I thought I might have a yeast infection from the harsh adapalene I was using on the MC, so he took a swab for additional testing.
It turns out I have ureaplasma, not a yeast infection. I've never even heard of ureaplasma before, what is it, how could I have gotten it, was I born with it? Maybe it's Maybelline?!?!
Jokes aside, I've done some quick scanning on this sub, and some medical descriptions/symptoms. I guess I'm on here looking for what other people's experiences are with this, what you're symptoms are like, how you found out you have it, and how you got it. I don't know much about this and I'm a little scared.
I've only ever had 4 sexual partners. For partners One and Two I was both of their first, and I know that as a 100% fact.
Partner Three was a very limited sexual relationship, we only had sex 4 times, used condoms every single time, and no oral. Partner Four is my current boyfriend, I love him very much, but I am nervous to talk with him about this because idk much about it and how it might affect his health or if I might have gotten it from him. He said he was clear of all STD and STI. He had testing with his last partner because they almost had an oops baby when a condom slipped off, but she miscarried 2 or so months in.
I know ureaplasma isn't something that is usually tested for, especially in men, but I'm wondering if I got it from him or if I've had it and been asymptomatic. I swear I've never even had a yeast infection until I started having sex with him, but a few months into our relationship, I started getting super itchy sometimes, uti symptoms, and random yeast infections. I thought they were all unrelated, I thought I was irritated down there from a new laundry soap or toothpaste lingering on his mustache. I thought the UTI was from not drinking enough water.
But I'm guessing all those new issues were ureaplasma.
I've been to the Dr's before for undiagnosed chronic illness, suspected POTS. I've struggled with my immune system flaring up, random feverish symptoms, hives, swelling joints, swollen lymphnodes my whole life but I've never had problems with my lady bits besides painful crazy heavy periods.
I'm really trying to figure out if I've had it all this time or if it's a recent thing, or if that even matters.
I'd like any and all information you have, any advice, especially how to talk about it to my partner. Thank you for listening to my freaked out talkings!
