Random powering off
I’m looking for insight and advice. My pc has recently started randomly started shutting off without warning. It’s run fine for a couple years prior. The only thing that’s changed is I did a clean install of windows a couple weeks ago.
Pressing the power button immediately after shutdown does nothing. The only way for it to restart is to cycle the power switch on the psu, or unplug the power cable for several seconds. It always shuts off again within minutes after a fresh boot though.
I read somewhere that a bad cmos battery might be an issue, but replacing that yields no results.
Am I looking at a bad psu? Is it typical for a pc to be able to run, then switch off if that’s the case? Would reinstalling windows help if something was corrupted? It did display a “fixing things” message on one boot, stating there was a system32 error, but idk if that’s just because it was shut down improperly. I haven’t been able to replicate that message.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
