Feel guilty about not liking my all-male job

Hi everyone,

I’m a physical therapist in an outpatient clinic. All of my coworkers are male, except for the one female front desk attendant.

I’ve been growing steadily more unhappy at my work for a variety of reasons, but one of the reasons is that I just feel plain lonely and starved for female contact. Sure, sometimes my patients are female and I’ve befriended one outside of the clinic, but I only see them for 30 minutes at a time, twice a week, whereas I’m in a small space in close quarters with the other therapists and techs for 8 hours per day 5x per week. And most of the patients I see are much older than me which adds another layer of isolation.

There are 3 other PTs and 6 techs. All male.

I feel guilty about being unhappy. And like it “shouldn’t” bother me this much. But it does. When a young woman patient comes in I immediately perk up and feel more energetic. I went to a lesbian book club over the weekend with young women my age and I literally felt giddy like I haven’t felt in god knows how long.

All the dudes at work talk about is prize picks (sports betting), or football, or basketball, or baseball. All fucking day. It’s so fucking boring and one dimensional and irrelevant to my lived experience.
Can anyone else relate or share thoughts?

Thanks.

Feeling burnt out in outpatient 7 months in, considering inpatient

Hi everyone,

I’m a new grad working at a nice outpatient clinic I’ve been at for about 7 months.
The clinic itself is high end and well equipped, boss is good, coworkers are fine, and I’m good at my job, but the breakneck pace of seeing patients every 30mins for a full day combined with the constant small talk and social interaction is completely exhausting and is making me feel burnt out and depressed.

On days I’m well rested it’s manageable, but I can’t always be, and those days are absolutely brutal. I’m starting to feel unhappy.

Is inpatient any better? I hear the pay is higher and you work at a slower pace seeing less patients. I’m trying to consider my other options.

How can I start transitioning out of outpatient.

Thanks.

Which day to go?

I’m leaning towards only going one day, maybe Sunday.
Thing is, I particularly love DnB and Saturday seems to have more drum n bass artists, although I saw Hybrid Minds and Subsonic already at Zombie Apocalypse this year.

What would you do in my shoes?

Edit: I can ONLY go one day
