I’ve been looking for ways to get the most bang for my buck when it comes to vegan protein powders. I decided to take an hour of my day to watch paint dry and put together a list of brand comparisons to see which provides the most value.

Here’s what I came up with, as an until I was exhausted (non-exhaustive) list.

Explanations:

Total Value = amount of protein density per cent (protein density / cost per protein * 100)

Protein density = amount of protein per gram of weight (serving size protein / serving size grams)

Protein cost = price per gram of protein (price / [protein per serving * total number of servings] * 100)

This was all based on Amazon pricing, so I’m sure this will be slightly off for everyone and will fluctuate as brands offer deals, change formulas, etc. It’s at least a starting place. I should also mention, my main goal for this is not to find the protein powder I intend to use for consuming solely on its own (with liquid), but rather to help aid my decision for a powder that I can use as a supplement to other foods where I’m not as concerned about flavor. I recently discovered Sun Warrior which is incredible as a standalone drink, but it has terrible value so I don’t intend to use it in fruit smoothies I make where the protein choice isn’t as important.
