3rd EDC sober, and wouldn’t have it any other way

I’ve gone to 14 EDCs now (only missed ‘23). And this is my 3rd year going completely sober all 3 days. Here was my experience this year

- I am so tired at EDC. literally need more breaks than I used to. Nice to sit for an hour and watch a stage from far away usually around midnight. The fireworks is a good time to sit and watch.
- I need to drink the cold brew coffee at least 2 times to stay awake all night til 5am. Also about 4 Advils to manage the pain in my feet.
- I need food (which before when I was rolling I never ate anything at EDC). At least 1 meal inside.
- I sleep much better.
- I remember so much more of what happened.
- I think I’m actually more empathetic and compassionate to people who are on substances as a sober person because I know what it’s like.
- During the day time I am tired but I don’t have weird nausea or hangover feeling that I would get from substances
- My legs are super sore
- I’m glad that if I feel shitty I just know that I should just get some sleep and that will fix it. whereas before when I did substances and felt terrible, even if I slept it didn’t help the symptoms go away.
- I used to get bad migraines the next day after substances and I don’t get that anymore.
- Definitely still enjoy the music and vibes all around.

If anyone else is considering it, hope you read this and find inspiration to try it. FYI I never considered myself to have any substance abuse issues. the reason I decided to go sober was just so I didn’t get anymore bad hangovers the next day and because I just wanted to take care of my body more the older I’ve gotten.

Also not knocking anyone that wants to take substances or alcohol. I’m very drug positive and always am looking to take care of folks who want to partake.
