AIO my advanced stylist didn’t the work I paid her for
Hello! Looking for some feedback . A few years ago I found a hairstylist that is super good with my specific type of curly hair so she became my gal. Sometimes she has people help her, understandable since she owns the salon and it’s definitely a teaching environment for ppl to learn curls. I know this, have had people help (keyword help) before - no problem
on thursday i went in after not seeing her for 6 months because she had a baby. I went in and all was pretty normal, she did my cut and it was great then I went to the wash area and it was someone else. She was very new and it really hurt my scalp the way she was massaging it. I eventually said “we can skip that” to the massage because it hurt and after two times of letting her know she didn’t adjust pressure or pulling my hair. So whatever, then I go back and my hair is styled by my stylist and one other very new person for about 5 mins and then she kind of moves on to her other client who just came in. Meanwhile the two newer girls are still working on my hair. It’s been about 30 mins and they are still drying my hair. okay… so I try to point out that one of the pieces is still wet, like sopping wet, while some areas the cast is fully done. got snapped at ”yeah we are still drying it” My head was upside for about 10 mins and now I have way too much volume and my hair is like a bobble head figure on top of my actual head. I have fine 2c hair, not like, tight curls. Wild. So I’m like yeah, I’m sorry but let’s just leave the cast on and I‘ll need to go. my stylist, is now completely helping a new client and comes over to check it Out. She’s like oh you just want to leave it? I think she could tell it was not great.
I’m like ya I guess it’s fine the curl will hold nicer with the cast not shaken off immediately. she doesnt check me out or reschedule me herself, okay fine. But one of the new girls I had been working with goes “do you want to just do an express cut since you didn’t like all that” and I just stood there in shock for a moment like - i Eventually politely told her that I would like the whole service.
idk, I’m feeling like I’d like to tell the owner/my stylist I feel like since I pay for her expertise (literally says advanced stylist when you book her) I don’t want 75% of the service to be done by amateurs who don’t understand my hair. is that not right of me to do?
please be kind, I’m just trying to understand. if it’s normal for a salon environment I might go somewhere else. just trying to figure it out.
also giving her grace because she is post partum. maybe all that stuff is too hard right now. which I, am not a mom and wouldn’t know so please - don’t jump at me.
