Could Ward outperform Mahomes in 2026?
Ward’s rookie year was a mess situationally — his head coach got fired after six games, he took an NFL-high 55 sacks, and the offense around him was genuinely bad. But look at what he did once things stabilized. He posted a 10:1 TD-to-INT ratio over the final eight weeks after the bye. The arrow was pointing straight up when the season ended.
Now look at what Tennessee built around him this offseason. He’s got a completely new coaching staff with Brian Daboll running the offense, Wan’Dale Robinson signed as a proven slot weapon, and the No. 4 overall pick spent on Carnell Tate — who should thrive downfield with Ward’s arm. Daboll has already said Ward is picking up the new system fast, and he brought Robinson specifically because he already knows how to deploy him. This offense was built for Ward’s skillset.
Analysts are already drawing comparisons to the Trevor Lawrence and Drake Maye breakout seasons, slotting Ward in the QB15 range with significant upside. That’s a massive value if the Year 2 leap materializes — and everything about his late 2025 run and this offseason says it will.
Im curious how folks answer this as a metric for value this year.
