How long do shipments stay "On Hold"?

Hi everyone. I shipped the package on April 27th, it arrived on the 29th to destination, but the customer sent it to a locker; it stayed there for 8 days "Available for pickup", then started moving, attempted delivery at home address, but nothing, he doesn't respond to me and neither to Vinted (item sold through that platform). On Friday the status finally changed and is now "Shipment on hold". How long before it will be sent back to me? Is there anything I have to do?
Thank you in advance.

Recipient unreachable for 10 days, now "Delivery Attempted" - How to ensure it comes back to me?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some insights regarding a shipment from Italy to France. The package sat at a Service Point for over a week, but the recipient ignored all my messages and failed to answer phone calls from DHL France. After the storage period expired, the tracking suddenly showed "Out for Delivery" today, followed shortly (1 hour for 35 km) by a "Delivery attempted but no response" status. I immediately contacted DHL France, and they have now updated a formal inquiry to request a Return to Sender (RTS) given the total lack of cooperation from the buyer.

Despite this, the automated system still sent an SMS saying a second delivery attempt will be made. However, I noticed a change on the DHL tracking page: previously, by unlocking the "additional information" section, I could see both the origin and destination cities. Now, after the latest update, the system has restricted the view, and it only shows my origin city as the primary reference point. I’m curious to know if this change in how the tracking displays "unlocked" data usually indicates that the system is re-routing the file back to the sender. Also, does a formal "CS" inquiry like mine usually manage to stop a second attempt in time at the local French hub? I want to ensure the package is prioritized for return rather than being attempted again for a recipient who clearly won't answer the door. Thanks for any help or experience you can share!
