I am beyond frustrated right now and just need to vent, but I also want to know if anyone else has been trapped in this specific loop of absolute incompetence.
I was expecting a shipment from France, and DHL has spent the last 14 days completely wasting my time. Here is the timeline of how they string you along:

• The Runaround: My package gets stuck in limbo for two weeks. I didn't just sit on my hands—I called DHL customer service several times. Every single time, the reps assured me that the package was simply "with customs" and actively "going through the clearance process." No flags, no warnings.
• The Document Trap: During this window, they finally reached out asking for specific clearance documents. I gathered exactly what they asked for and submitted everything promptly to make sure there were zero delays.
• The Ultimate Slap in the Face: Out of nowhere today—with zero explanation regarding the documents I just provided, and completely contradicting what multiple phone agents told me—I get an automated email stating that the package is being returned to the original shipper.

Why did they bother holding it for two weeks, making me jump through hoops to provide documentation, and lying to my face on the phone if they were just going to immediately turn around and ship it back to France?

Has anyone else dealt with DHL agents giving you the "it's just clearing customs" line right before a sudden Return to Sender? Is there any way to intercept this or escalate it to a supervisor who actually has a brain, or am I entirely out of luck until the sender gets it back?

TL;DR: DHL held a package from France for two weeks. I called multiple times and agents assured me it was just going through standard customs clearance. I provided all requested documents, only to get a sudden automated email saying it's being returned to the sender anyway. Absolute clown show.

When your package is returned to sender do you immediately get a new waybill number?

I have a package that is supposed to be delivered to Italy.

The package right now is in Aschheim 2 Germany and yesterday I got a status update saying there may be delays due to adverse weather, which a heavy rain occurred for less than 8 hours on and it’s been clear sunny weather since then.

Does anyone have the same status of potential delays and what’s a realistic date expected for the package to be processed again?

Hi all, I'm in the process of shipping insulin from India to the US via DHL. I had a few queries that I wanted to clarify. I'm planning to ship 60-80 days supply of prescribed medicines from India. I have a series of questions that I'm writing below one by one. I will be attaching the Doctor's Prescription, letter from the Doctor, Pharmacy bill and other legal documents.

1. What all documentation is a must to ensure the shipment clears customs and gets delivered to the reciever smoothly.

2. Also, what are the chances of the shipment getting stuck in customs?

3. For what reasons do they pause the shipment?

4. Also, if all the documents are in place, is there still a chance of the shipment getting stuck in the customs.

I'd appreciate your guidance.

Hey all - random question that I'm hoping someone has insight into:

I have a DHL Express package (from Japan to US) that recently arrived at my local Indianapolis DHL facility. The tracking status is "Arrived at DHL Delivery Facility INDIANAPOLIS - USA". Due to the public holiday, it looks like the package will be on hold until next week. Does anyone know: when packages are on hold like this over a holiday/weekend, are they inside an actual building, or just left outside on the transit truck? I'm hoping that since the package was scanned as "arrived at delivery facility", this would mean it's physically inside a building. I'm mainly curious because we're in the middle of a pretty brutal heat wave, and I was concerned that plastic might be at risk for melting if left outside baking in a truck.

international package shipped from Japan to Germany

hi! my friend sent me a GIFT package from Japan to Germany valued at around E46 with about 13 small items, the package is medium sized. when the delivery guy came over today he charged me E37,77 for the package. I did NOT!!!! receive any email or letter notifying me of the charge, I only found out about it upon delivery. because I didnt have cash on me he is redirecting it to the nearest DHL store so I can pay by card. but I am dumbfounded at this ridiculous charge with absolutely no previous warning. on top of it I do not know exactly why this amount was charged. I called DHL and one person said was "zoll"(customs) and another said I would receive a letter. if there is a letter why was it not sent previously???? why no email??? I want a digital invoice breaking down the charge and I searched all possible DHL links. how can I proceed? thank you in advance

I have ordered a parcel from CHINA to ITALY using DDD-DHL-IT1

The seller said they could not send It with this method because I live in a remote area. I asked if another address was fine, but they endend up shipping It with the ZIP code of the non remote area city, and the remote area city address.

I was wondering, can I change the destination to a DHL point or something like that when It gets to Europe? Or I have lost It 100%?

Hello! My bf from germany sent a document to the Philippines. Does anybody here knows what will happen if someone didnt drop of the documents via Filiale der Deutschen Post? My BF dropped it off in a house mailbox and we're worried about it getting lost or not going to it's destination. He purchased a dhl Express online and just dropped it off the Mailbox instead of handing it over to the post branch.

Im beyond irritated. I ordered a piece of clothing from Japan, the shipping already cost as much as the actual item. And now I’m being charged a duty fee as well. I’m not about to pay 300% for this item is there a simple way to just cancel the whole order and be refunded?

Hi. So I ordered a packed worth $515 and paid roughly $200 for shipping from China to Botswana.

DHL is charging roughly around P5350 (roughly $351 usd) to get it to me.

Is this reasonable. How do i minimize the costs.

If I have a DHL Express package. Will they be delivering tomorrow?

Package being delivered to Louisiana (USA) from the UK. Most recent update package leaving Atlanta.

How long until you typically hear back from DHL for a job hiring? My application has been “under consideration” for nearly 3 weeks. Do they still schedule interviews after that timeframe or should I not be that hopeful? The posting says they’re no longer accepting applications either. I would think it would just say “rejected” if they hired someone but wanted some insight.

Hey, my packet was turned in 7 days ago, on 25th june, and said it'd take 1-3 days for it to arrive, yet a whole week has gone and I haven't got anything?

Could it be that they only deliver on specific days, or so? Because I haven't been able to get in contact with customer service, it's not availble.

The destination is from north sweden, to south sweden, approximately it'd take 16 hours to drive. (If specific cities are neccessary, I'll make sure to type it in replies)

I created an international DHL shipment online for an international document shipment from the US to the Philippines and generated a shipping label.

The situation is that I am sending the label to the sender, and I don't know exactly when they'll be able to hand the documents over to DHL. When creating the shipment, I selected an estimated pickup date, but there's a chance the sender may not actually ship the package until several days after that date.

Will the shipment still be valid and processed normally, or do DHL labels/waybills expire and require creating a new shipment if they're used days later?

I'm probably overthinking this, but I want to make sure I don't run into issues if the sender isn't able to ship immediately after I create the label.
