I hate how normalised unrealistic beauty standards are in South Korea
I hate how Korea pushes women to look like idols with these impossible beauty standards. You walk around South Korea and it’s just ad after ad about beauty for women. It’s actually insane. Then there’s that stupid belly measuring thing, which makes no sense because what if you naturally have bigger boobs or a bigger butt? 😭 I’m around 53kg and like 5’2 ish, but because I have curves apparently I’m “chubby” according to that weird measurement crap. A lot of these standards feel obsessed with making women look as tiny and youthful as possible. Super skinny bodies, super pale skin, acting cute all the time, looking small and delicate. It gets weird when grown women are pressured to fit this almost childlike image just to be considered pretty.
What makes it even worse is that those belly measuring things are literally in children’s parks too. Imagine being a kid and seeing that stuff everywhere. An overweight child is obviously gonna feel insecure or embarrassed because they’re basically being told their body is “wrong” before they’re even grown. That’s such a messed up thing to normalize around children.
And I hate how normalized it is in South Korea, and honestly Asia in general, for women to weigh like 43kg and people act like that’s completely healthy for everyone. Tell me why I saw people saying it was perfectly normal for a 17 year old idol to be like 30kg or something. That’s actually concerning, not “normal.” Also before anyone twists my words, yes, I know this happens in other countries too, but it genuinely feels way more extreme and normalized in South Korea for some reason.
