I hate whatever the fuck genre of fictional man this is

I hate whatever the fuck genre of fictional man this is

Every year there's a new "funny evil dude in a suit" that 14 year olds go fucking NUTS over and I am SO sick of it. It's the same guy every time. Funny le random humor with a dash of self deprecation and a heaping scoop of edginess. Oh they're SO nuanced and different from all the other villains in fiction because they have, uh... inner conflict? Sense of humor? Uhh *rapidly checks notes* Funny smile????

And for some reason everyone somehow convinces themselves that these characters are attractive. Bill Cipher isn't hot you fucking weirdo, he's a triangle.

I'm tired of seeing these dudes fucking EVERYWHERE. I'm tired of all the "self-shippers" declaring their eternal love for these dudes for like a couple of months and then promptly forgetting they exist as soon as they stop being trendy. I hate their stupid ass faces and the stupid sense of humor they're written with. It got old so fast.

I HATE when people hate on children for children

I despise how a lot of people on the internet are so hateful on children just for them being cringe and loving stupid memes like 67. I saw fucking 67 hate sub, like are we fucking deadass? People who are in their late 20-s don't you remember how stupid was your memes and jokes were back then? It's okay for children to be stupid and cringe and sometimes annoying, they are learning. Picture related

I HATE the mindset that 18 year olds are dumb and immature (inage very much related, see body text for why)

Occasionally I stuble upon a poll asking something like "which age gap is worse? 18 and 50 or x" and the top comment is ALWAYS this image. People in these posts always act like 18 year olds are little babies who don't know what's good for them. Let me tell you one thing. 18 year olds are a lot more mature than a lot of people think. Is 18 and 50 bad? Of course. Weird as shit. But worse than 17 and 13? Hell no. 13 is a litteral child. I don't hate the people cause I don't know them irl just the behaviour. We'll see if this gets banned for violating rule one even though that was not my intention

I HATE how some animal sounds are spelled in English.

Okay, now let me preface this by saying some words are... Fine. Roar makes sense, baa makes sense, neigh makes so much sense.

It's just that... There are a FEW words that really grind my gears. I can name 3.

"meow" - I hate this one SO much. I can get why it's spelled that, "me-" is like the word "me" and "-ow" is like the interjection "ow", so /mi/ and /aʊ/ make /miaʊ/, which is what a cat usually says... But WHY DON'T YOU SPELL IT "miau" INSTEAD?? Why not "mao"?? "meow" looks disgusting!

"bark" - come on, that's not what a dog says! Not even close! Why do we need "b" and "k" in the word?? I can understand "-ar-", but in that case, the word should've been only "ar"! no not "arf" I hate that too I prefer it without the "f". I'd tolerate even an "ourgh".

"chirp" - no?? Have you heard what a bird sounds like? They don't say /ɚ/ ("-ir-")! Come on, use /i/ ("-ee-") instead! At least THAT makes more sense! I can see "p" being there, but I can't make sense of "ch". what I mostly hear from a bird is "teep". Maybe "twit", maybe "tit". Even maybe a "tweet". But "chirp"??? Not even close.

each person who relied on their hearing to conceive of an onomatopoeic word for these 3 sounds shouldn't have relied on their hearing to conceive of an onomatopoeic word for said sound.

I HATE SEEING GAMEOVERSE EVERYWHERE

MY GOD WHAT IS UP WITH OBSESSION OVER GLITCH WHY ARE THEY EVERYWHERE THEY ARENT EVEN GOOD WHY ARE THEY IN EVERY POST

Everyone just pointlessly argueing about it being goonslop or just being lazy with the female casts looks than just put out the most subjective ass arguements to support it or support against it over and over again

This is boring dude 💔

I hate how people see the slightest bit of disagreement or argument in a community and instantly assume its "controversy" or "Drama"

This has been a thing with glitch shows as of recent because people keep making a big deal about voice actor shit (and to be fair, those are actually controversial), but some people thinking that the character designs are sexualized and others disagreeing is not drama, not controversy, it is literally just disagreement at its lowest form.

I hate how joke explaining subreddits get treated like idiots

Of course they don't know the joke, that's why they posted it.

But no, they get treated like idiots for asking questions.

Not everyone knows everything you do, especially if it's a pop culture reference.

"But what if it's obvious?"

Sometimes I don't get a meme that is posted on the sub either, but when I see what the joke is I do feel a little stupid.

Sometimes people just need a little more context, or a little push in the right direction.

We are all stupid sometimes. Even if that means the subreddit is as well, doesn't mean it should be treated like this.

I hate when POV is used incorrectly

It stands for "point of view" not "having an outer body experience", or "looking at someone else", learn the differences.

Ok, I still need reach the 200 characters to post so... There once was a man from Nantucket...

I hate what the Burger King Crown has become...

This absolutely garbage of a human turned an iconic crown that many adored as a cool fast food merch or a gift into this racist dogwhisle, genuinely I've seen probably hundreads and likey thousands of people who wear this as an implication for their racist intentions, the thing is that these typa small things like this is what leads the normie into the alt right pipeline, and if you're wondering what the man did, he said the n word on plane to a person which was recorded online and posted.

I hate the whole idea of "Address me" subreddits

(English is not my first language. Please excuse me for the bad English.)

The humor of the "address me" jokes comes from how it is unexpected. You look at a meme and go "Huh, how is this funny" and then you suddenly notice an unexpected hidden joke(sometimes unintended) in it and burst into laughter, that is what makes it hilarious.

However, now that there are subreddits like r/adressme or r/addressme, when you see a post is from those subreddits you immediately know there is some kind of hidden element in it and that's the fun of it. So naturally your first instinct becomes searching for that hidden joke, not trying to understand the post as itself.

That alone beats the whole point of the joke. And even worse, due to the existence of these subreddits, now if you post those kinds of joke in other subreddits, top comments will always link to the address me subreddits. This means that we are going to see significantly less "naturally occuring" elephants from other subreddits from now. This is so sad.

Writing this, I started asking myself why am I giving shit to any of these. But anyway those were my opinions. Thanks

People not closing twitter

Istg please holy shit

I'm so tired of posts on random subreddits saying shit like "X got into a huge drama over Y" and the huge drama in question is a single post on twitter with 638 likes

Please learn to identify ragebait and not engage with it. If you use twitter to debate people then I am honestly sorry for the great injustice of the circumstances of your birth

I absolutely despise how a random troll/bot can say some completely out of woodworks opinion that no one has ever had, get like 5 views, and then have someone from r/peoplewhogiveashit come over, screenshot it and turn this ragebait of a nothingburger into a clog

Look. I know that discussions like this can actually turn into meaningful topics. But what's stopping you from just. Talking about them? You don't need to wait for a troll to make a highly debated non issue in order to discuss mollusk representation in clam media. Come on

I HATE this character trope

The "haha I'm silly haha" with "he's the most powerful being in the multiverse" is the most STUPID AND EDGY FUCKING THING. I DON'T CARE HOW GOOD THE STORIES ARE, I DON'T CARE WHAT GOOD AND BAD THEY'VE DONE, AND I DON'T FUCKING CARE HOW FUNNY THE SHOW OR MOVIE IS. Especially when they say "you don't want to make him angry trust me" SHUT THE FUCK UP. "Let's make a character that's small, silly, and goofy with reality warping powers. And let's make him completely unkillable and will always win no matter what" how fucking original and balanced. AM's hate is NOTHING compared to the HATE i have for these characters. The glazers are coming in saying "b-but he's a god" Yeah? So is EVERYONE ELSE. I swear people have forgotten how big a million is because these type of characters can do shit a million times in milliseconds

I hate this stupid ass idea

WHAT is bro talking about fr 😭

This is so wrong. Just because YOU can't be friends with the opposite gender that means it's impossible

I have a girl best friend and we both love each other so much ( platonically )

Also both of us each have a crush on another person completely

Stop acting like every boy has a crush on EVERY girl. Vise versa

I'll do say tho it's not that common. But it's also NOT impossible. It definitely happens

u/anythingrally — 19 hours ago

I hate you all don't shut up about "goonslop"

Please. All of you, shut the fuck up. "Goonslop" this, "goonslop" that, "gooberbait" here, talk about anything else goddammit!!

The problem here isn't even that it is or isn't sexually suggestive, it's that you all won't shut the fuck up about it. There are several things more worth your time than complaining about sex.

u/I_Swear_Not_Bot — 16 hours ago

I hate whenever any woman is on screen in any animated show (indie, usually.) it's immediately called goonslop

I'm gonna use Planetronika for example.

Yes, there's fan service, I get it, but that's.. not the point

Butterfly is a very well designed character, I love how she looks. But I'm tired of her (and Kit from Gameoverse) being sexualized for no reason.

Both have unique and good character designs, and it feels like it gets ruined because of Twitter saying it's "goonslop," "goonbait," or some other stupid term.

edit:

uhhhh yeah I worded a lot of this wrong so yeah my bad

Glitch Productions (the studio, not the people running it)

Nothing in this world has ever pushed me to the verge of insanity the way this fucking studio has. Their content is average at best at its praised like the second coming of Christ. You're not allowed to criticize it without a mob of keyboard warriors attacking you for it. I don't care that it's indie (barely even qualifies atp). These shows are curated to chronically online tumblr users, the same type of people that glaze Vivziepop. I hate the "goofy goober quirk chungus" millennial humor, I hate the cringey characters and fanbase, and I absolutely fucking despite shit like Murder Drones and TADC being shoved in my face at every corner. I hate this studio with every fiber of my being, from the depths of my soul this hatred swells.

I hate when people throw around The male gaze without actually reading what it means

Like, So many both critisisms on this sub and in wider critique just complain about media terms and use them as buzzwords without having any damn idea what they mean. like that one about the male gaze from yesterday (I think) IF YOU'RE GOING TO USE A SPECIFIC MEDIA TERM, LEARN WHAT IT MEANS, this is not entirely a criticism of just that post but also many other things at once. as somebody who spent the last 5 years of my life studying this shit, the minimum I want is for people to look at the definition for five minutes.

Male Gaze:

let me give a definition of what it is. it is (definition from the Pearson National Btec revision guide) "audiences, whether they are male or female, have to view women from the vantage point of a heterosexual man" it is not people being attractive, and it is not some vague criticism of media. It is a documented problem that stems from the male dominant career of writing and institutional sexism. there is no such thing as the female gaze, because it requires the idea that media suddenly becomes a female dominated industry which is absolutely not the case.

in the male gaze women are depicted as: Passive, the object of the gaze, in need of protection, sexually submissive, supporting men and dependent. these are treated to make them the focus of sexual fantasies. (for a reference on this and how it becomes so standard, think of the "get the girl" plotlines in many films, they show affection as earned by being strong or doing something great, completely removing the woman's own attraction and stating that you can just win love)

men are depicted as active, the one looking at the girls, who offer protection, are sexually dominant (just as a quick aside, I don't mean in the middle of sex, I mean as a whole they are shown as the one in charge of getting the relationship) who take the lead and act independently.

now rather than me flicking through my old textbooks I'll go straight to the actual essay, Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema by Laura Mulvey (recommend checking it out, although it was written 50 years ago it's still massively applicable.)

basically the thing that annoys me is that it's just used so often without having the foggiest fuck what it means.

no it is not the idea men can't be attracted to things, no it is not people thirsting over a well written character for having large thighs. It is the institutional portrayal of women as sexual objects.

I hate the fact that the pilot episode hasn't even been out a week and already we're faced with pointless controversy and drama.

I haven't watched it yet, but from what I have seen around it seems a harmless cartoon and I still don't get why there is already problems with it (and none of them seems writing or animation related). Honestly what the fuck will happen if we get the entire series?

I really dislike arguments like this

I never really thought I’d be posting here, but I hope that I could find some people who relate, Like I understand yes sometimes they can get hate just because they’re a female like in the photo, he is the one who married to Walter White was completely justifying being upset but I feel like this is constantly apply to every single female character to the point that they refuse to even look at what the character has done or their actions like whenever I go onto the favorite character subreddit I can’t see seeing post like this or comments like this like your favorite character does not hate it because a woman know they hate it because of this reason or this reason you can find reasons to dislike a character for any reason or action they do but they always treated like it’s fact is gently annoying and whenever you try to point it out they start to get frustrated with you and angry with you one the reasons why I stopped visiting the favorite character subreddit what do you all think? Am I overreacting?
