Asthmatic cat long-term maintenance

My cat who is 3 years old now had an xray done when he was 1 y/o for eating plastic, and through that xray his vet told us it looked like he had mild asthma. He hadn't shown any symptoms.

This spring just a month ago, he had his first asthma attack (not just coughing but the whole position where it looks like hes about to gag) and it lasted less than a minute but we were very concerned. We called his vet and took him in the next morning per their advice, and only a visiting vet could see him, not his usual. He really hates the vet and has to be drugged for it but he still hyperventilates and shakes and this begins the moment we put him in the carrier and he takes a whole day to recover and be himself again. His gums even turn pale and it’s concerning.

Since this was a “visiting“ vet and not a regular at the clinic, she didn't give him any long-term medication or prescribe anything. She just gave him an antibiotic injection in case this was an infection but said she couldn't even examine him properly due to his scared state.

We probably should go back and have his regular vet examine him at some point, but his fear of the vet seems very serious and I don’t want to stress him out further. He hasnt had any symptoms since.

Do I need to take him back for medication/prescription? I am worried that one day he will have a bad attack and I would have to drive him to an emergency vet far away, but at this point I’m not sure what to do.

Even if he were to have maintenance medication prescribed, I would be concerned about potential side effects that are unneeded right now, and Im also starting to wonder whether he really is asthmatic. Is an X-ray usually enough for a diagnosis? I’d appreciate any advice. Thank you so much.

EDIT: this may of importance; the day he had his attack was a day where I opened the window and turned off the air purifier, foolishly thinking the fresh air would do him good and I didn’t want to use up the purifier filter. Since then, I’ve only opened the window on days where the pollen count is low and the purifier is constantly running with a fresh filter.

Hey,

I’m considering leaving the newsroom as a general assignment journalist for a job that pays slightly more but is remote. The role is a staff writer at a niche industry publication, writing about the industry for those in the know I guess. It would be nice to have a remote position and a niche but would i ever be able to get back into more general journalism? I love journalism and the politics side of it, and want to work for a print media outlet so badly, but I’m only 2 years into my career and this is the only place calling me back about my application. I’ve been submitting applications for a few months now.

I’ve gotten to the age where I want to move to another city after entering the workforce a few years ago, and I’ve had to answer the question about why, which has led me to realize I subconsciously believe some people ( such as some of the ones in my current city) just don’t have the same interiority as I do, which I don’t think is a good thing at all as claims of lack of interiority or complexity have been used to justify war, crimes and forms of oppression. I don’t even know if interiority is the right word, but are there are philosophers who spoke about the inner complexities of humans and how personalities vary depending on context and background?

To illustrate my point, an example: some people you meet will have no interest in discussing the arts, media, literature, hobbies, inter-relationships or really any topics that aren’t the weather or work. And I seriously do not look down upon those people, but I cannot comprehend what they do all day or how their thoughts materialize if they don’t experience any adversity to learn from. I knew a few people like that when I moved to a western country, but where I’m from—a third world country if you will—even though no one shared my admittedly westernized interests, I still felt everyone had personalities and quirks and issues. I just can’t seem to find that here in everyone.

Another example would be the term “normie” or the more recent “NPC,” non-playable character. Both terms are used to refer to people you don’t believe have the same complexity or even free will as you.
