Stunted growth in kittens?!?

My fostwr-fail kitten is about 5 weeks old (judged by his teeth) and eats slurry with formula. He's playful, sleeps in his playpen well, and uses his litter box perfectly fine. The shelter vet told me he's in great shape and she is not worried about him in the slightest, but he's still TINY. He's gone from .52 lbs to .78 lbs in about a week, but I'm worried his growth might be stunted due to whatever nutrition he did or didn't get before he came to the shelter. Is it possible for kittens to have permanently stunted growth due to early malnutrition, or will he catch up with other kittens his age eventually??

Picky 3-week-old foster kitten won't latch??

Hey guys 👋 I am fostering a 3 week old kitten. For the first two nights, she ate pretty voraciously, but today I'm having a really hard time getting her to latch to the syringe. I've been thinking about trying a bottle again with her, but she didn't like it beforehand because the formula came out too quickly. I've been keeping her warm and cozy with her heating pad and blankets, and she doesn't seem lethargic or anything. She sleeps quite often, which i think is normal, and she wakes up immediately when I take the lid off her enclosure. She loves playing and gnawing on things, but seems more interested in playing than eating. She even hissed at me for the first time ever when i tried to feed her most recently!! I've been thinking about trying a slurry with her because she tends to chew and rip stuff up, so I'm wondering if she just needs something more substantial, but I'm worried she wont get proper nutrients since she is only estimated to be 3 weeks old.

Any advice or tips for inconsistent bottle babies? Ive been trying to feed her just a little every hour, but she stopped latching entirely about 2 or 3 hours ago. Her behavior seems pretty normal otherwise though, so I'm at a loss... Please help 😭🙏
