My current theater closing but I still want to work at it when it reopens as a different theater.
The theater I work at (Reading Cinemas) is going to be closing down at the end of the month and will be most likely reopening as an AMC in a few months. It’s inside of a mall and the mall owners have guaranteed that a theater will I still be there, just a different company. I really love my theater job and want to work at the AMC opening up. I’m not sure what the best way to go about doing this would be.
In an ideal world my plan is to enjoy a summer break and apply when it reopens but I don’t know how well this would work in the real world and doesn't guarantee a job there. Another option would be to apply to a currently open AMC and transfer once my theater reopens. I’m hesitant on this however because the closest AMC to me is an additional 20 minutes away and it’s still not guaranteed that my theater will be AMC (although it’s very likely). This plan does guarantee a job, assuming it does become an AMC (I wouldn’t apply to an AMC until it is confirmed), but I’m not sure about that commute (and I would like to have a summer break lol).
I would really appreciate it if anyone had any advice or experience to share!
