Confused Between GATE 2027 and Job Hunting After Layoffs - Need Honest Advice

I completed my Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, and currently I’m doing an internship in an Ahmedabad-based company working on the MERN stack.

Lately, many companies in Ahmedabad seem to be doing layoffs, and because of that I’ve become very confused about my future. My main question is: should I start preparing for GATE 2027, or should I focus on finding another job if I get laid off?

Another thing that worries me is whether 6–7 months of preparation would even be enough for GATE. I also keep thinking about a second option: if I don’t get fired, should I continue the internship/job while preparing for GATE alongside it?

Personally, I don’t really feel like studying all four years of engineering subjects again, but at the same time, the opportunities for freshers seem very limited in today’s market.

I’m genuinely confused and would appreciate your thoughts or advice.

I liked one girl, But did I ruin my chances because of one misunderstanding?

**stay till end as story is long**

In 2021, I was in 12th standard and fully focused on my board exams. But one evening in November 2021, my family and I went to a marriage function. There, I had around 1.5 minutes of eye contact with a girl. I completely got lost in her eyes, and she kept looking at me too without even blinking.

The main thing is — she lives in my society, just one row behind my house and she is from my cast also. Since I was focused on my studies, I thought I could wait and not rush anything. But from the very next day, we started having eye contact almost every day. I slowly fell in love with her. Even when I used to go play cricket with 15 other people around, I find out that she still looked directly into my eyes. I genuinely thought she liked me too.

But because I was in 12th, I decided to focus on completing my exams first.

After my 12th ended in April 2022, I started searching for her Instagram or Snapchat ID. One of my friends knew her because they were in the same school. While searching on Snapchat, I accidentally sent a request to a random account that had the same name and surname as her. Within 10 minutes, the request got accepted. I sent a snap with my photo, and it was opened within a minute. Then after 5 minutes, I sent a “Hii” message. Suddenly, that person removed me from Snapchat, and out of embarrassment, I blocked that account.

After 5–6 months, I found out that it was actually HER account — the girl I liked. I discovered it while searching from my friend’s Snapchat account because she had set up a public profile with her photo. I immediately sent that ID to my account, and that’s when I saw that I had already blocked it. I was completely shocked.

I quickly unblocked her and sent another friend request, but she never accepted it. At that time, she was in 12th standard herself (2023). On the last day of her exams in April 2023, I was walking near her house with my friends. She was talking with her grandparents, and I looked into her eyes hoping she still liked me. Later that same evening, I cancelled my request and sent it again… but this time she blocked me.

Since then, the number of times I see her in the society has reduced a lot. Whenever I do see her, she everytime looks at me from the side, but if I notice and try to look back at her, she immediately ignores me.

A week ago, I found her Instagram ID and sent her a request, but she still hasn’t accepted it.

What should I do? A part of me feels that moving on is the right choice, but genuinely, from my heart, I still like her. And the worst part is that when I blocked her Snapchat account back then, I truly didn’t know it was actually her ID.
