I think my sister in law might be into me?
For context, I (32 M) have been with my wife (29 F) for 8 years, the past two of which we’ve been married. Her younger brother (27 M) has been with his wife (27 F) for five years, and married two as well.
We’re all pretty close, my wife’s family gets together for almost every holiday and celebratory occasion there is. My wife’s brother and I are pretty close, sharing many common interests in gaming and viewing media. His wife also shares many of our hobbies, so us having random conversations isn’t anything out of the ordinary. Well recently my SIL asked if she could talk to me in private during a family party. Thinking nothing of it initially I agreed and we headed outside to talk. She started telling me that her and my BIL have been having marital issues and infidelity had been committed by both parties, that she was contemplating divorce because she just can’t seem to find happiness again. I was caught off guard as they usually present themselves as being a completely functional relationship, but then again you never really know I guess. Either way, she vented to me and asked what I would do if I were in her shoes. I told her I couldn’t possibly know what I would do, as I would be truly devastated to find out my wife had been unfaithful, but that I would have to prioritize my own happiness over a perceived duty to a relationship that seems doomed to begin with. She thanked me for the conversation and went back in to the party.
Now at every family gathering she tends to be a little more handsy when greeting me, letting hugs linger a little longer and some lingering glances here and there as well. She also makes a point to initiate some physical contact whenever possible, like when we’re sitting on a couch she’ll make sure to sit next to me and makes sure to lean her leg on mine, or putting hands on my back or shoulder when talking to me. I am I reading too much into these things, or is there something deeper?
