1989 regal, thoughts?
Hey there!
I’ve been looking for an older clunker for a daily driver. I hadn’t planned on getting a car the same age as me, but I’ve found a 1989 regal with 99k miles. One owner, and extensive service history. It needs a steering pump, and some small issues. I’ll look at it physically, but I suspect it’s going to be in good condition based off the interaction with the owner. I’ve been looking for about 6 months and thjs car stands out to me
My personal circumstances is this, I wfm and run my own business, so I won’t be driving a crazy amount. The biggest drive I would have is 2 and half hours to though some mountains. I’m also a new driver due to past health issues and am someone who wants to avoid a car payment, and would have pretty high insurance on a new car. Long term this would probably be a quirky secondary car.
I would be buying the car for around 1400-1500 and expecting to have to invest The car is in my home town, with a lot of handy friends, backyard mechanics and a family member with a fully equipped garage. So I’m considering buying, having a lot of work done upfront, especially the cooling system. I am reasonably handy, and willing to learn.
Thoughts?
