New writer planning a very large fantasy/web novel universe — what should I know before starting seriously?

Hi everyone. I'm a beginner writer planning to start a very large-scale fantasy/web novel project, and I wanted to ask experienced writers/readers a few things before I fully commit to it.

The story is heavily focused on:

- worldbuilding

- politics/economics

- multiple civilizations/species

- military/logistics

- cultural conflict

- dark realism

- kingdom/civilization building

It's not really a small personal story, but something much bigger in scope, so I know it may become difficult to manage properly.

I wanted to ask:

  1. What are the biggest mistakes new web novel writers usually make?

  2. How much planning should be done before starting Chapter 1?

(Should I fully complete worldbuilding first, or develop it gradually?)

  3. How long does it usually take to write a good chapter?

And what is considered a decent chapter length for web novels?

  4. What matters more for audience growth:

- consistent uploads

- writing quality

- pacing

- character attachment

- worldbuilding

or something else?

  1. For very large stories, how do you avoid overwhelming readers with too much lore/information?

  2. How important are maps, illustrations, edits, trailers, etc. for growing a fantasy web novel audience?

  3. Is using AI as an assistant for grammar fixing, scene expansion, brainstorming, etc. accepted nowadays if the core ideas/story are still mine?

  4. Which platforms are best for:

- fantasy

- kingdom building

- darker political stories

- long-running worldbuilding series?

  1. Are there any YouTube channels, articles, guides, or creators you recommend for learning:

- storytelling

- pacing

- dialogue

- character writing

- web novel industry basics

- audience growth?

  1. Realistically, how long does it usually take before a web novel starts getting actual readers/followers?

I know this is a lot, but I genuinely want to learn properly instead of rushing into it blindly. Any advice is appreciated.

18M, never dated before — advice, red flags, expectations, and realities?

18M here. I’ve never been in a relationship before — no dating experience, no love life, nothing like that — so I genuinely want to understand how things normally work before approaching someone in the future.

What are the most important things I should know before dating or asking someone out?

Is splitting the bill 50/50 on the first date considered normal nowadays?

How do first dates usually go in real life compared to social media expectations?

What are some common mistakes beginners make?

What are healthy boundaries and realistic expectations in relationships?

How do you usually know if someone is genuinely interested in you?

What are some common red flags people ignore early on?

And how do people balance dating with studies/work and personal life?

I’d appreciate honest advice, experiences, or things you wish you knew earlier. Everything related is welcome.

International student

Hi everyone,

I recently received an offer letter for a Bachelor's in Data Analytics at the University of Messina, and I’m currently deciding whether to accept it or wait for other universities in Italy.

I’d really appreciate honest opinions from current students, graduates, locals, or anyone familiar with Messina and the university.

I wanted to ask:

What is student life in Messina actually like?

How is the local economy and overall atmosphere?

Is English commonly spoken among students and younger people?

How difficult is it for international students to find part-time jobs?

Does the city feel isolated compared to northern or central Italy?

How are international students generally treated there?

Are there opportunities in tech/data/AI nearby, or would most opportunities require moving later?

Would you personally recommend the University of Messina, or suggest waiting for universities in larger cities?

I’m mainly looking for real experiences and honest perspectives rather than official university information.

Thank you!
