Hey all! I’m currently trying to find a place in the Atlanta area and running into some issues because of a collection on my credit tied to a previous apartment.
Basically, I had to move out early since life doesn’t happen in clean 12month chunks, and went into the leasing office to handle everything in person. I filled out the paperwork and moved out as discussed, but it looks like something wasn’t properly recorded on their end. I never heard anything after moving out and only found out months later that a balance had been sent to collections. I did try disputing it, but the property had gone through management changes and it was difficult to get documentation from them to resolve it with the collection agency, so it’s still sitting on my report.
Aside from that situation, I’ve always paid rent on time and haven’t had issues before or since. I’m trying to figure out where to look…either smaller complexes, private landlords, or places that are a bit more flexible and actually consider the full picture instead of auto denying.
If anyone has recommendations (or has a space for me to rent), I’d really appreciate it!
