Moving to Atlanta with a newborn on a quick turn - is Roswell the right choice for us or am I missing a better area?

My wife, newborn, dog and I might have to move down to Atlanta area within the next month, so we’ve been looking around at places to live.

To be clear the expectation is this wouldn’t be home forever, maybe just a year before setting roots somewhere else down there in a house.

For that reason we’re prioritizing luxury style apartment complexes so we could just get in quick and easy (hopefully).

I would be commuting to midtown, wife would be remote.

Our budget is $3k to $4k a month for a 2b/2bath with AC and in unit laundry.

With the dog and my wife being out on leave, we love the idea of being quickly able to walk to parks or into a downtown of sorts for coffee or a bite.

We’ve zeroed in on Roswell, specifically the Vickers building.

The downtown seems sizeable and cute, there are lots of parks, and the building seems nice enough.

I’m curious if there are any other suburb/ city setups we should be considering?

Below are my current takes on other areas, feel free to challenge me on them if I’m wrong;

Sandy Springs doesn’t seem to have as clear of a downtown to me and has a lot of busy roads, and I get similar vibes from Brookhaven.

No real apartment complexes in downtown Marietta.

Decatur is too far from some of the family/friends we want to be by, but would check boxes.

Alpharetta feels like a nasty commute to midtown.

Is there anywhere else you’d recommend or does this seem like a solid enough plan?

Cloud Couch for Sale

Hi everyone, I am selling my cloud couch. The couch I have been eyeing for a while is finally on sale and I want to get that one, so I don’t need my current one.

Info:
- I got it December 6, 2025.
- It’s a modular couch, with an ottoman (4 Individual pieces), with grippy things on the bottom so it doesn’t move.
- Comes with 8 cushions (3 back, 2 side, 2 pillows)
- I clean weekly with a vacuum, lint roller, and febreeze gain spray.
- Easy to move out of my place, just need something to take it in (ex: car)

DM me for more info/interested.

Thank you!

Living in Midtown w/ Poor Credit + a cosigner

Hi all wondering if anyone has a similar experience + recommendations for finding an apartment in midtown.

I'm 24 years old, and starting college at Gatech in August. I've been touring apartments that hit my requirements of 1 bedroom, over 800 sqft, preferably within a 30 minute walk to campus or 15 minute bus ride. Not going to give my life story, but my credit score is sub-400 w/ debt in collections ect, BUT my amazing brother who makes well over six figures is offering to cosign + cover rent up to 3k while I'm in school.

I thought this would give me a lot of options for apartments, but the one I fell in love with and put in an application with denied me. When I went to speak with them they told me I couldn't be approved even though 1. My brother who cosigned has perfect credit and well above income requirements 2. in my 6 years of rental history, I never once have missed a monthly payment 3. I'm not even technically paying, he is. They told me it's because my credit score "is too much of a liability" which again see point 2 + I do work and could cover rent if needed as they could see when I provided income verification, I just don't hit the 3x multiplier that these buildings require.

I honestly am shocked because I thought at the very least being a student would give me some sort of exemption since I highly doubt the other college kids qualify for these buildings on their own. Just wondering if anyone else has tried to rent in midtown ATL with a cosigner and poor credit and had better luck than me.

Maybe I just got unlucky with the apartment I applied for, but it has put a dampener on my search because now I'm worried my backups will end up with the same denial. And, now I'm panicking that I'll be living in my car while in school because no where will accept me.

Help me give my children a safe place to call home

This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to post. If you can, please take a moment to read my story. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this would mean the world to me. Letting me know any resources available in Dekalb County would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you so much ❤️

I also have mobile banking apps (Zelle, Chime, Cashapp) if you would prefer to donate there.

What Sandy Springs apartment communities have you had a good experience with?

My budget is $1300-1500 for 1bd 1bth. I’m looking for places with good management, responsive maintenance, reasonable rent increases, safe surroundings, and no issues with pests.

Any apartments (or management companies) you’d recommend or avoid?

Is it hard to find apartments with these specs in midtown between spring Street and juniper

I'm trying to find a studio or preferably a 1 bed apartment thats walking distance maybe on the edge of biking distance to Marta

Just somewhere there isnt much car break in or homeless people in garage I can understand homeless people in near by parks or sidewalks. Just not inside garage.

An apartment with an balcony or window that open to get air flow.

And no major bug infestation. I can handle occasional small bug but not infestation

And working elevator. Preferably around $1700-1900 range.

I currently live in Society in a studio for $1900 a month and was aiming to go to Axis until I read that recently there was a huge car break-in thing going and security not doing much about homeless in their parking lot. One review talked about finding a homeless guy sleeping in car

I was really hoping to move into a 1-bed in Axis cause while a studio is nice I think I want that bed room separation again. And a 1-bed in Axis was around $1700 with a balcony.

Amenities wise a gym is preferable, but like my work has a gym so im not too concerned over it.

903 Peachtree was nice until I saw their windows are not openable

Tuscan Style Apartments

Does anyone know of any well-maintained 'luxury' Tuscan-style apartment complexes preferably around Sandy Springs or north Atlanta area? I'm not a big fan of the renovated modern grey apartment look.

Pics for general reference. Description: Tan walls, white trim, arched doorways, dark wood cabinets, wood floors or tile, granite countertops

Moving from Dallas to ATL

Hey y’all, 27M relocating from Dallas to Atlanta this month for work. Signed a lease at Stella at Star Metals in West Midtown and I’m pretty excited about the move. Looking for general recs from locals:

**•**	Best things to do around West Midtown and the city in general?
**•**	Good food spots (I eat out a lot)
**•**	Pickup soccer or rec sports leagues?
**•**	Nightlife worth checking out?
**•**	Any “wish I knew this when I moved here” advice?

Coming in with an open mind and trying to build a solid circle out here. Appreciate any tips 🙏

verbally offered promotion but no physical evidence

i've only applied so far, not signed lease . i saw on the website they offered 6 weeks free promotion and i was told repeatedly at my tour in person this would apply; that's why i applied while at the office right after the tour with the leasing agent. now 2 days later the seperate screening team is reaching out saying the promotion is not listed and expired the day before i applied and will 'ask for approval'. i sadly never got written confirmation of promotion through email or handwritten forms. am i straight out of luck? is this a typical bait and switch? it's rlly my word against theirs and they hold the upper hand.

has anyone been in a situation like this before and what was the result? im currently waiting to hear back but im anxious so wanted to see others experiences. they also increased my base rent by $150 compared to the quote i applied for. is this typical nowadays?!?

Studio apartments (or ending up renting a room)? Advice?

I am 29F and I live the Cobb area. I work in downtown atlanta. I toured Woodland Falls in Lithia Springs and Bella 810 in Smyrna...

I was thinking of touring Castleton Apartments in Atlanta and Cumberland Pointe in Smyrna sometime this week or next week.

Has anyone heard of these apartments? Lived in them?

My budget is at least $1,100 (or lower) for rent.

My pay is roughly $2,687 a month (after taxes) and I am thinking about moving out of my dad's house in fall/winter of this year (I can't stand living with him, thats all i am going to say).

I am still thinking back and forth, if I should rent a studio that (even houses section 8 residents) or rent a room? My friends advise me to just rent a studio (their pay is higher, and they live with their siblings).

Moving: Chicago to Atlanta

Hi! My husband is being relocated for work. We currently live in Chicago with two young kids and no car. We use public transportation to get around Chicago. Neither of us have been to Atlanta.

I was wondering if anyone can suggest the best areas to live? I work remote, but my husband will need to commute to Sandy Springs. I understand Atlanta does not have public transportation like Chicago, but wondering if there’s areas that are more walkable for schools, groceries, etc. and that has a train station nearby for my husband to use to commute to work. We’re not committed to buying a car just yet.

Appreciate any and all advice!

EDIT:

Okay so getting a car - non negotiable got it. 😂

We’re visiting in a couple of weeks but I was really looking to narrow down the areas to check out.

*We own our place in Chicago and will likely rent it out and rent in Atlanta until we know how permanent the relocation is.

Rooms For Rent in West Buckhead! All Utilities Included

Two furnished rooms available for rent! ALL utilities included!

I’m renting out the master bedroom (private bathroom) and the secondary bedroom (shared bathroom) in my well-lit 3-bed/2-bath apartment in Cross Creek, about 15 minutes from Midtown. The rooms are very spacious. The bedrooms include new Queen-sized beds and frames. The master bedroom comes with a standing desk, office chair, and monitors.

Rent for the master bedroom with a private bathroom is $1,250/month. Rent for the private bedroom with a shared bathroom is $950/mo. All utilities are included: electricity, heat, water, Wi-Fi, etc.
The apartment has brand-new kitchen appliances and is located in a manned-gated community with great amenities, including:
- a golf course
- 4 tennis courts
- 3 swimming pools
- on-site restaurant
- 24/7 manned gates

Looking for someone clean, respectful, and reliable. There is 1 professional Indian male in the other bedrooms. I prefer a 1-year minimum lease, but I'm open to 6 months.
Message me if interested or if you’d like to come see it!

Move-in for the master bedroom is ASAP, and for the secondary bedroom is July 31st.

Approveshield Offer letter

I am relocating to Atlanta for an internal transfer from TEXAS with a much higher pay rate. The apartment i applied to uses approveshield. My current rate in Texas is just below 3x the required rent. However my offer letter states my new rate which is quite a bit over the 3x rent for the apartment. Has anyone gotten approved with an offer letter? I did upload my current paystubs and also the offer letter. Paystubs and offer letter should be easily verified since it is the same employer, same position. Simply a relocation with an updated pay rate.
