For people who have been a fan of the books for a long time has there been any super popular theories that a lot of fans took as almost canon that were later disproved by newer books releasing?

George has talked about how much he regrets insignificant continuity errors in his writing such as Renly's changing eye colour because it leads his readers to believe all inconsistencies are mistakes but some are very deliberate.

Is there a compiled list or some very popular inconsistencies that people believe were definitely intentional?
