Moments of clarity

Hi everyone

Ive recently joined this sub. My 92yo mum has had a sharp decline into dementia over the last 2 years - currently diagnosed as moderate to advanced, starting as depression from the grief of losing my dad 4 years ago.

She's currently in aged care, and has been increasingly violent, agitated, aggressive, emotional - just everything really. She is on a concotion of drugs - an anti depressant, a sedative as needed as well as risperidone.

Lately, most days she hates us, her children - particularly her daughters, for putting her in aged care. Its very challenging for everyone. Very upsetting.

Sometimes she has moments of clarity tho - briefly she's like her old self - happy, pleasant, loving, laughing.

I often wonder if when she inevitably passes whether she'll have that moment of clarity, so that we can tell her we love her, that we placed her in care for her own safety and not for any other reason.

Respectfully, does anyone have any experience of these moments they could share to give me some assurance that it might happen that way?

Cue the crepey skin

Holy crepes batman. I knew I was starting to get a bit of crepey neck but literally in the last week it seems my jowls have turned up (or down it would seem) and have joined the crepe party.

My eyelids and under eye area is so terrible. Normally I have glasses which helps to hide some of my saggy wrinkly skin but lately this area seems bad too.

Im feeling so down about how my skin looks. Im on no sort of specialist skin care right now as I have eczema prone skin and had a flare late last year so stopped using retinol, vitamin c and niacinamide plus my usual moisturiser.

Looking for some advice please on what, if anything, could help with firming my skin and improving its overall appearance. Ive considered getting a lower bleph for my under eye area also - depending on cost.

I turned 50 earlier this year and finding it really hard to accept the 'ageing' transition. Anyone else feeling this way 😕

***ETA Ive been on hrt for about 1 year - im specifically taking femoston which is a combination pill.

Just bought a gorgeous taupe blazer from the myer sales.

Want to pair it with my black work pants and a black and taupe polka fot shirt.

My biggest dilemma tho is black ankle boots or camel flats.

Really trying to make my outfits more intentional so I feel like I need to do the whole sandwich thing ie top and shoes match.

Wwyd?
