When driving on a bumpy alley or up a driveway/ entrance to a shopping center, I often hear a popping or knocking sound from the rear of my car. Especially when driving for the first time while it’s especially hot or cold out.

My feeling is that the bumps and shaking of the car combined with thermal expansion/ contraction cause the chassis/ panels to slip and settle and make the loud sound.

Has anyone experienced this? I’ve never experienced it before in any car. Happens almost daily.
