I'm actually a little jealous.

So Sean gets to boot up and play the legacy on-release version of No Man's Sky AND can dive into any expedition. I didn't actually "discover" it until after the mech was released... or desolation - somewhere in that time frame - so yeah I was really late to the party and often kick myself for listening to too much fan criticism upon release and opting not to give it a shot.

So I guess that brings me to a question for fans: would anybody else like the 10 year anniversary to include the option to play the original version of the game? It'd also be cool to have the option to replay all the expeditions. Hell I'd pay for both if they'd actually take my money

Cohesive Scaling - in GA Pt 1

By request.

* note please forgive the low quality and the images being randomly-ordered

I had been working (before switching to windows 11 and no longer getting the game to run) on finding an appropriate means to scale objects in a meaningful way from the Space Stage using Galactic Adventures.

In building creator, I created colony structures I- scaled by leaving doors at their normal scale.

Building structure parts to recreate a colony base ring ring and turrets to build around the standardized structure was a little tricky, but is helpful when placing a colony plaza texture onto a flat space of proper size. From there, it's a matter of static asset placement.

For creature scale I used a set of human (hoo-mon) creatures from space stage and scaled them appropriately using building doors as a guideline.

Then vehicles built using the same principles as with structures we applied and scaled for proper proportions to the creatures.

For space ships, I had to reference a common (oc) ship in space stage against an established colony and then rescale it in GA to look approximately the same.

I've got my scaling formulae in a document somewhere. I'll have to post ratios in part 2 with some better images.
