I have a long history with Mizuno shoes. Pretty sure my first pair were the Wave Rider 13s and I owned quite a few Wave Riders over my years of running, ending with a pair of Wave Knits (which I think were the equivalent of Wave Rider 22 with a different material for the upper?).

Anyway, then I had a hiatus of several years, during which I didn't replace those last shoes because I was only running a few miles here and there. But I decided to get back into it this year and train for a June marathon. A month ago, I switched out my shoes for some Wave Rider 28s.

I hate them. I'm not really a running shoe geek and don't even know what changes I'm reacting to, but my feet hurt all the time and I feel like they're forced into overpronation. Also my toes seem to hit the end even though (as always) I've sized up half a size and I never had that problem before. I have very narrow feet so I'm wondering if the changes to the toe box are screwing up how my feet sit in the shoes?

I'm looking for recommendations for shoes to try that might feel similar to older models of the Wave Riders. Also, any thoughts on why these feel so different are welcome. Thanks!
