For people like me who have thought about getting out of the 9- 5 grind and are hesitant to take the plunge, what is stopping you.

I mostly hear uncertainty, but if you have to define the underlying fear or reason that is keeping you from doing something you wanted for year or how would you explain it to others. I think working through this reasoning first is important first step.

I recently took the plunge and am hearing all kinds of options from people, “It’s too risky.”; “ what if …… (fill in the blanks )” etc etc.

I have broke it down to what do I need, I think to be successful in small business I need to things:

1.) Money - enough capital to get started in target business. It could be $20k or $200k based on industry.

2.) MOTIVATION - This is the biggest factor, why do you want to start the business. Business will not be easy or simple and will require lots of grinding and ups and down.

I would like to hear other people’s thoughts, what is your fear that’s stopping you from taking the plunge?

Of the people who have started their own business, how did you overcome the obstacles and convince others around you of the venture?
