Hello Reddit,
I 24(M) finally managed to purchase a house in this economy. I did that in February, after a long battle with the new build people who made my life hell for a long time.
Since I’ve moved in and realized how woolly unequipped for the world I’ve been and how much I’ve had to learn, do process, manage, and regulate with both myself, my partner, our pets, and my other relationships.
Recently, I found that I can’t type or Hyperfixate anymore or my special interests aren’t specially interesting.
For example, one of my special interests is Beyblade. I love Beyblade metal fight and I love Beyblade burst. I have been collecting the newest series BeybladeX for years. However, I can’t get myself to hyperfixate on it. I spend time with it and I engage in it and yet I can’t find myself as invested as I should be.
I’ve also tried finding new interests. My friend had me play through Sonic adventures. I played the first game and it wasn’t very much fun, but I expected it to not be fun. And then I tried the second game and I was hooked. I was fixated for two days. And after I beat the game, the fixation faded. But I enjoy the series and I started to play another sonic game, but I can’t find myself hyper fixated on things.
When I think about it, the last time I was able to hyper fixate on something new was when I was unemployed and trying a new hobby, I’ve had a job for almost year now, and I’ve been able to mitigate a lot of of my stressors from buying a house. I’m not sure why my brain is giving the signals for burnout and I’m not sure why I can’t hyper fixate either.
However, the inability to hyper fixate is probably causing more problems, because I sit here and wonder when the spark that makes me enjoy things is gonna come back. And I’m worried that it hasn’t, and I don’t know how to mitigate it.
Has anyone else had experience with this?
And if so, how did you mitigate it?
