About medicine and psychosis/psychotic epiodes

First post here and on Reddit as a whole, so be gentle please!

I (21M) was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia at 18, and have been in and out of psychosis since then. I entered psychosis at 12 or 13, and it persisted, in varying degrees of severity, until I recently got on a new medicine, clozapine, though I’ve had psychotic symptoms since then. Clozapine has helped immensely, enabling me to take trains on my own and visit my mother, but there are things that still affect my day-to-day life. For years, even after getting medicated, my thoughts have manifested as voices inside my head, with the volume ranging from whispers to screaming. Has this happened to people other than me?

I unfortunately had a psychotic episode a few weeks ago, where I overdosed on my medicine after a voice told me to take all my medicine to “get better” and had to spend the night in the hospital. I live in an assisted living situation, so I was able to get help after I snapped out of it and was transported to the hospital by a worker, bless her. Can psychotic episodes happen even if you’re on clozapine, or am I an outlier? I’m willing to go into details if asked.

Thank you for reading!
