TALENT: OLD RELIABLE

TALENT: OLD RELIABLE "3rd gen printers weren't a luxury for you but the front line wasn't waiting. Scraping whatever you could from 2nd gen and field wreckage gave you the edge, and this philosophy hasn't left you since your first license"

RANK 1 — RUDIMENTARY ENGINE Your mech's engine is entirely mechanical — no software interface, no digital regulation.

When you overcharge, instead of rolling, heat cost increases by 1 cumulatively starting at 1 (1, 2, 3, etc.).

Heat gained from overcharge cannot be reduced by resistance and cannot be cleared by any means.

When you take stress damage, all overcharge heat is cleared — this counts as a heat clear for exhaust effects.

Each time you take stress damage, lose 2 heat capacity until that stress is repaired.

You gain +1 accuracy on saves against tech attacks that would slow you.

RANK 2 — EXHAUST SYSTEM Your heat management is physical exhaust and raw cooling.

3 limited, when you clear heat by any means, you may choose one of the following exhaust effects with values equal to half the heat cleared, rounded down:

Black Smoke — Create a burst 1 smoke cloud centered on you that blocks line of sight. Clears at the end of your next turn.

Heat Exhaust — All characters in burst 1 must make an Engineering save or take heat equal to the exhaust value.

You gain +1 accuracy on saves against tech attacks that would expose you.

RANK 3 — HYDRAULIC TRANSMISSION Your locomotion is pure mechanical linkage.

Once per heat clear, your next Ram deals bonus kinetic damage equal to half the heat cleared, rounded down.

You gain +1 accuracy on saves against tech attacks that would impair you.

Tech attacks cannot benefit from you being in the danger zone.

While in the danger zone, you gain an additional exhaust choice:

Hydraulic Leak — All characters in burst 1 must make an Agility save or take burn damage equal to the exhaust value.

When this mech suffers a meltdown, its frame is left as salvageable wreckage. Instead of the standard meltdown explosion, all characters in burst 2 must make an Agility save or take 2d6 burn damage as fuel and hydraulic fluid ignite across the battlefield.

3rd gen printers weren't a luxury for you but the front line wasn't waiting. Scraping whatever you could from 2nd gen and field wreckage gave you the edge, and this philosophy hasn't left you since your first license.

---------------------

RANK 1 — RUDIMENTARY ENGINE

Your mech's engine is entirely mechanical — no software interface, no digital regulation.

Gain +1 heat capacity and +1 repair capacity. When you overcharge, instead of rolling, heat cost increases by 1 cumulatively (1, 2, 3, etc.).

Tech attacks cannot slow you.

Each time you take stress damage, lose 2 heat capacity until that stress damage is repaired.

----------------------------

RANK 2 — EXHAUST SYSTEM

Your heat management is physical exhaust and raw cooling — nothing to hack.

Gain +1 heat capacity.

As a quick action, clear heat equal to half your current heat rounded down and clear exposed. Whenever you clear heat by any means, you may choose one of the following exhaust effects, with values equal to half your heat at the moment of clearing, rounded down:

Black Smoke — Create a burst 1 smoke cloud centered on you that blocks line of sight. Clears at the end of your next turn.

Heat Exhaust — All characters in burst 1 must make an Engineering save or take heat equal to the exhaust value.

Steam Off — Clear exposed.

Tech attacks cannot expose you or force you to take heat.

--------------------------

RANK 3 — HYDRAULIC TRANSMISSION

Your locomotion is pure mechanical linkage.

Gain +1 heat capacity.

Gain +1 accuracy on Hull checks and Ram attacks. Ram deals bonus kinetic damage equal to half your current heat rounded down.

While in the danger zone, you gain an additional exhaust choice:

Hydraulic Leak — All characters in burst 1 must make an Agility save or take burn damage equal to the exhaust value.

Tech attacks cannot impair you, and tech attacks cannot benefit from you being in the danger zone.

When this mech suffers a meltdown, its frame is left as salvageable wreckage. Instead of the standard meltdown explosion, all characters in burst 2 must make an Agility save or take 4d6 burn damage as fuel and hydraulic fluid ignite across the battlefield.

This talent was done in haste to not lose the idea generally, I agree from start it's not balanced at all, this is why I posted it for criticism.

Thanks for the criticism so far, already agreed with many for changes of the next iteration.

  1. removing any capacity added.
  2. rank 2 overhaul - quick to limited, heat immunity to half, using clean heat from stabilize as a trigger.
  3. rank 3 - exchange accuracy on hull checks to accuracy against impaired from tech attacks.
  4. ram damage reduced and only one time after clearing heat
  5. hydraulic leak 1/4 of cleared heat as burn damage
  6. overcharge starts from 2 rather then 1

Keep with the criticism, it's more than welcomed.
