Looking for Opinions: Swallowtail vs. Emperor for Artillery/Support playstyle.

Starting a campaign soon, and trying to decide which frame to go with for my Artillery/Control/Support roll. Of all the 15 Sensor Range +1 TA frames, these two stood out, but I'm not sure which I'm going to get more use out of so I'm wanting to source some opinions/ideas. The rest of my squad will be a Vlad, a Dusk Wing, and a Mourning Cloak. (We're starting at LL2.)

For Swallowtail the idea was going to be to immediately grab Goblin 1 at LL3 for that sweet sweet H0R_OS1, and to slap OpCal on the Autopod. Basically just spamming Lock-ons with Spotter 3 and firmly suggesting people go visit the Vlad so he can Nailgun them with Vanguard 3.

I'm a little less sure of what to do with the Emperor to be honest(Partially because it's not available currently in Lancer Tactics to test run). But, in theory, I trade the on-demand shredding and Tactical Simulation for a pretty decent integrated weapon and a TON of overshields to help support my somewhat squishy squad mates.

[oc] small lancer session scenes i decided to draw :]

these are a couple segments from some lancer sessions that i recall + took notes on! the first was from the "solstice rain" module and the second was a rest-time action with another pc, john the artillerist, from a couple sessions back in our "no room for a wallflower" campaign. the character in both scenes is my pc, dani "ddos" dubois, who is a mechanic and a white witch + balor pilot!

i do some illustrations for romantasy novels and do some game development (coding + art), but it is a bit exhausting to do on top of having a completely unrelated full-time job.

so, i do some sketches like these to brush up on skills or just for myself! i love doing character interactions, and it's pretty refreshing to draw something that isn't particularly related to traditional medieval fantasy stuff (although those are fun too)!

i think my gm might see this here, but i'm saving this for later to share with the rest of the players when i can get something more fleshed out for the rest of them :]

also funny note, apparently matt mercer saw the first illustration and commented on it! a very surreal moment!

Needing Help with LL3

So the team just reached LL3, which is great even if we lost one along the way (fella blew up).

But now I’m dealing with the problem that I never got the chance to play a character that reached this level before.

I’m currently playing with the HA Jeanne, from the Newcomers lcp. I’ve been really enjoying the Nuclear Cav Striker playstyle, but I am thinking of maybe switching things up.

What builds have you guys found fun when it comes to dealing damage in close quarters?

NHP Combos

After looking at the one Horus core bonus I was curious about some combos with NHPs (and also how many you can fit in a mech, I think 4 if you count the one in the Hydra if using that one, the core bonus and the NHP Talent).

One of the combos I was thinking of was a SEKMET and LUCIFER. Get the impact lance from the Vlad license, external batteries from the Tokugawa license, Gyges Frame core bonus, and put SEKMET and LUCIFER in there for a raging energy blender that has 5 threat melee. And if you put that in a Tokugawa mech frame, you are a very long ranged melee build.

Any way, that is the only synergy that I can think of at the moment and would like to hear more for some ideas.

Clarification on Prophetic Interjection

So I'm planning to (eventually) play a Swallowtail in my first Lancer campaign, but I want some clarification on its Core System "Prophetic Interjection".

So the way it feels like it's flavoured is: "the attack never actually happened, it was just a simulation", yet the rules state: "your ally gains resistance to all damage dealt by the attack" (and of course that teleporty stuff).

Is it correct that this means that PI *halves* all damage your ally took from the attack on a success? It does *NOT* fully negate the damage dealt by the attack?

I assume it's the former, but I just want to make sure.

How its going...

My players are in the final sitrep of the LL, and the mission is to destroy 2 enemy printers that are actively producing grunts every round.

There is also a saber bear. Hopefully this concept is self-explanatory but imagine a size 2 bear made of fuck off with 2ft long teeth.

The debate became "Do we let the bear be in this compound where it can feed on infinitely produced grunts"

My take on a size 0.5 GMS Striker

Meet the XO-1

Basically a core driven hardsuit for all that want to hear the AOT theme when they want to pilot.

It’s not perfect yet but playtesters found it fun.

After some suggestions i Posted a Patched version in the Comment Below.

Any Advice on White Witch Builds?

I'm new to Lancer, and really enjoying it so far. I've been absorbing as much information as I can about the game from online, and learning about how to make a mech build at later levels. We're still at a lower LL in my current campaign, but I'd like to have a plan for around LL6 to work toward, and then maybe some ideas on next steps from there for higher LL's.

I can feel myself gravitating more to Defender style builds, with the main frames I'm interested in being White Witch, Orchis, and Tortuga. Other than those, a couple of the 1/2 size frames caught my eye, like the Caliban and Atlas.

Does anyone have recommendations for what to do with a White Witch build? Is there a way to do one that makes use of the other licenses mentioned in case I want to switch what frame I'm in to cater to the mission, or does it jive more with specific LL's I'm not considering to become a monster in the field?

Aside from myself, I know our group currently consists of a Lancaster, Blackbeard, and a Mourning Cloak. Thank you in advance for any and all input! More than happy to provide any additional info.

Hull vs Agility in the context of NPC Rebake

We've all done the math, or seen someone else do it: Evasion is strictly just worse than HP as a defensive stat. Part of the reason for this is Reliable damage, part of it is damaging saves (especially save-for-half), but most of all this is because higher-tier NPCs simply do not care. We've all seen a T3 Operator with their 60% chance of critting on each of 3 attacks every turn, right? In the face of that kind of infalliable accuracy, EVA 6 and EVA 20 start to look way too similar.

But most of these calculations are in the context of the core book NPCs. The NPC Rebake by Kai Tave is (to my knowledge) a very common bit of material, designed specifically to address several of these issues:

- Reliable is just as common (three NPCs total) but it's now a specific signature ability of the more "punishment-based" NPCs rather than the generic Assault and Rainmaker that can be expected as "filler enemies"

- More importantly, the scaling multiattacks are gone and the accuracy is more tightly controlled. Even the most accurate NPCs aren't pushing anywhere near 3⨁+6, or making three attacks a turn.

So my question, for those of you who have played long campaigns using the Rebake or gone deeply into the stats involved: is Agility more valuable to you if you know the game you are getting into uses the Rebake? Are the changes not enough to save Lancer's notorius dump stat? Is it somehow worse, because of some factor I haven't seen yet?

SSC Poreskoro, my HORUS-corrupted tick-like Atlas alt (WIP)

Hey y'all, I have some homebrew I've been cooking based on a tick. With feedback from a few peeps on the Pilot NET discord I've come away with two versions: one that changes size and armor as you use it, and one that doesn't. For the sake of flavor I really like the changing size bit but I understand it might have issues, and not worrying about changing size and just making it an HP-draining healtank is a bit cleaner (and ofc I'd modify the flavortext a bit if I went with it). Would love y'all's feedback, especially on which direction seems better to ya (and if you like the flavor :3)

Anyone know how to get in touch with Miguel Lopez-Hall or Tom Bloom

I am looking to do a series of videos on Lancer something I have done with other games like Shadowrun and Traveller among the video formats i do is one called Nerd talk where I sit down with some devs/writers of a game with some fans and players to discuss what makes that game good and stand out from others I call nerd talk.

I also do long format lore videos which is something I would like to do with Lancer as i have fallen in love with the setting. but I have found some bit of lore need clarification especially whne it comes to the Aunic peoples. I would like to pick your brains about it as it is obvious the lore is just out of date and needs updating. I would like to understand the direction you will be going with it as I want to present to most accurate lore video i can.

Thank you for your time.

Most Used Mech

What would you say is the most used frame in the game? I keep seeing people use the Balor, Barbarossa, Ghengiz, Blackbeard and Amber Phantom, but I was wondering what other people’s opinions are.
