Anyone else hear a guy screaming and cursing at 6 am in the morning near winckley square?

Heard him running around in the centre and in winckley square screaming out ‘my phone’ before resulting to cursing. What we understood is that someone ran out of his apartment and left with his car after stealing his phone based on our proximity to him near his apartment. He was extremely noisy and I’m wondering how no one else in Preston heard the ruckus he caused and how come there weren’t any police in the area to take control? Hoping he’s not crazy because we’re close to where he lives…

Schools in Preston

Thanks to all the nice people who replied in so much detail to my previous question on whether we should relocate to Preston. This brings me to follow up with a question related to the schools there. For those of you who might ask, we still haven’t decided where to live ( although we have found a significant amount of houses in fulwood, some in Penwortham and a lovely house in maritime way in ashton-on-ribble) and despite that we’re mostly worried about schooling. Influence and education at school matters to us as it’s where the kids will be spending most of their time and it’s what will dictate whether they’ll grow up liking living in Preston. Most specifically since they’re going into year 7, year 10 and sixth form. After asking about Penwortham Priory Academy I was met with mixed, leaning more towards the negative side reviews so I’ve decided to cross that out. I’ve come across Moor park High school and Sixth Form, Fulwood academy, Cardinal Newman College, Hutton Church of England, Runshaw College, Brown-edge Saint martyrs high school and Walton-le-dale High school.

Anyone familiar with these or have any suggestions?

Moving to Preston, Lancashire as a family of 4, thoughts ?

We’re moving back to the UK after 5 years and we’re mostly looking for a safe environment ( or at least low crime rates) and good schools. Got 2 kids going into middle school and high school so thats important as well in terms of influence.

Anyone know much about Preston or have lived there personally? Would help greatly, thanks.

Should I go for London Metropolitan University as a British Citizen who’s lived outside the UK for over 5 years now?

Hi everyone - so I’ve recently just gotten an offer at London Metropolitan University and another for study at Goldsmiths and/or Royal Holloway. Based on the fact that I had no access to higher education it was really difficult to apply to any other universities, especially when it’s this late. I applied for a foundation year at SOAS but I wasn’t accepted and I was instead referred to get a HE Certificate beforehand.

I’m a British Citizen who’s been living abroad in a third world country due to familial circumstances - with the intent of returning back to England. Despite trying to prove my home fee status when I applied to the separate universities through UCAS, I was still considered an International applicant, since I had to be living in the UK 3 years prior to my course. That left me with a dreadful page labeled ‘ fees for international students’ and a horrendous set of numbers - I most definitely couldn’t comprehend let alone afford.

London Metropolitan University was never my Goal. I’ve heard some pretty bad things about the University, and I’ve seen the facilities, as well as the campus, and read student reviews online ( on Reddit haha - proud of my reliable source of information) . Everyone I’ve seen talking about the University had nothing good to say, but as a British Citizen that could barely afford home fees let alone International fees, I’d also heard about their Global British Citizens Scholarship and it really sparked my interest. The only University in all the UK, that offer Home fee status to British Citizens through just their passport, and in my case it was a way out.
I’m just not overly excited about it. I’ll be progressing to a Law LLB and I know how competitive job applications are later on depending on where you graduated from and I’ve heard they’re quite skeptical about London Metropolitan university.

Should I take the offer? This might be my only chance. I’ve thought of doing foundation there and then applying for year 1 elsewhere ( preferrably SOAS - it’s my dream) and fighting for home fees or attempting to receive a scholarship someplace.

I’ll be self-funding and working part-time so if anyone has any tips - that would help too!
