It's enough that fewer and fewer traditional bikes are available, often leaving you with no choice but to take a pedal assist bike which is a bit of an extra charge. Fine, I don't mind them and sometimes they're nice if I don't feel like breaking a sweat or need to get somewhere quickly. Lately, I've run into more and more defective e-bikes - either they fully don't power on despite the app showing a charge, or they power on and then die suddenly mid-ride, or they power on but the assist doesn't work, etc.
Just tonight I was biking home and the bike I was on, which had four bars, suddenly died and wouldn't power back on, so I decided to pick up a different bike at 15th and Spruce. Of the 6 e-bikes that were available there, 3 were about to die despite the app saying differently, and one powered on, showed an error code and then died.
Don't get me wrong I really appreciate Indego - I do drive on occasion but between Indego and SEPTA, I have pretty much eliminated Uber rides. But the overall system maintenance and bike availability leaves a lot to be desired. And yes, every time I have a problem with a bike I report it to Indego and have shared these very concerns with them. They could stand to make a lot of improvements before the World Cup.
