Hyperthyroid cat on Methimazole is losing appetite
My cat (14yo) has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism more than a month ago and has been on Methimazole ever since. The vet did a blood test last week to check his T4 and his kidneys, and she said that everything was good and that we could continue giving the medication.
The thing is, the past week, i noticed he's been eating less and less. He is still very interested in treats, and is still willing to lick pate gravy and eat some new kibble, but overall, he's been eating much less than what he should normally be eating. I tried changing food brand, adding water, warming the food a bit.... He used to adore Fancy Feast but now he just seems really disgusted with wet food and sleeps most of the day.
The vet suggested we try an antiacid to see if it could help him eat more. I'm supposed to go get the medecine today. I still wanted to see if anyone else had the same experience or if anyone got tips i could try to fix this.
