FREE TO PLAY - While I intend to monetise the full game, the Alpha version is completely free to play with the only request being a moment of your time for some feedback.

Platform: PC and Mobile (tested and designed for iPhone, but other phones should work too)

⚔️ Features

  • Tactical Turn-Based Combat:  Move, attack, heal, push, scuff the ground, throw spears as javelins, and outmaneuver your enemies on a tile-based grid.
  • Six Unit Classes: Swordsmen, Spearmen, Bowmen, Mages, Assassins, and Healers, each with unique abilities and counters.
  • Three Factions: Recruit from the noble Almonds, the rugged Peanuts, or the wily Pistachios.
  • Campaign Mode: Battle through escalating waves of enemies with ever-tougher bosses, hazards like fire walls, and deadly pits that swallow units whole.
  • Online Arena (PvP): Climb the Elo ladder against other players in real-time tactical duels.
  • Tower Dungeon: A solo roguelike crawl with permadeath. Push your hero as deep as you dare.
  • Escape the Maze: Bite-sized challenge runs that test your positioning and planning.
  • Hall of Heroes & Graveyard: Every named unit has a story. Celebrate your champions… and mourn your fallen.

🛡️ Deep Systems

  • Gear & Durability: Weapons break in battle. Manage your armoury, visit the blacksmith, and equip your roster wisely.
  • Rarity Tiers: Common to Legendary units, each with stat bonuses and distinctive visuals.
  • Smart AI: Enemies dodge pits and fire, assassins flank from behind, archers reposition, and mages heal their allies.
  • Permadeath Modes: Lose a hero in the wrong mode and they're gone for good, transferred to the graveyard.
  • Loot Boxes & Progression: Earn XP, unlock new units, and grow your legend.

Hello everyone.

I'm Andy, the creator and sole employee of Why Games. I've been chipping away at a turn-based tactics game called Nuts at War. Think small grid battles, hireable units with rarities, a campaign with bosses, an arena PvP mode, and a maze-escape challenge mode. It runs in the browser but works best on mobile.

It's very much alpha — balance is rough, but I'm actively changing things every week. That's exactly why I need fresh eyes.

What I'd love feedback on:

  • Does the first campaign wave make sense without explanation?
  • Is combat readable on mobile?
  • Issues regarding armour and weapons.
  • Any unit/weapon combo that feels broken (good or bad)?
  • Bugs — especially anything visual that disappears or freezes
  • Suggestions for updates.
