Stopping meowing in the morning
Hi all, I’m sure this has been asked before, but I have three cats on scheduled meal times in the morning and at night. Usually they are fed around 6:30am when I get up, but they’ve started to cry outside my door anywhere between 10-20 minutes beforehand.
I don’t give in to them, but as a light sleeper, it wakes me up and is aggravating especially on the weekends when I would like to sleep in (hence why I am making this post on a Saturday at 6:30). I’ve gotten up and scared them off with a spray bottle which doesn’t have any sticking power the next day, I’ve ignored them, and I’ve used earplugs which helps some.
I’ve considered getting automatic feeders, but one cat is on a special diet the others are not and I don’t want them going to other feeders without my knowledge. The feeders that open for specific collars seemed like a good idea but are expensive for three cats. I’ve considered vibrating collars, but I’m not sure how effective those are or if they’d learn from them.
Any insight is appreciated.
