PTSD

Hey folks, I’ve posted a couple of times here but I guess this one is one of the more liberating for me and others hopefully. I have struggled with depression, anxiety, nightmares and such since my bleed. I have recently reconnected with a mental health expert who I have had dealings with in the past. 30 minutes in to our one hour session he straight up said that I ticked all 4 boxes for PTSD.

My brain is now in “protect” mode and things that were normal, now cause crippling anxiety as I want to protect myself. Just a PSA, if you have been through a bleed or a scare, seek help. A Neuro knows the brain as matter, a psychologist will know how your brain is working emotionally.

Ridiculous Rental Inspection Complaints

So we had a rental inspection last week and TBH, I was dumbfounded. Action item after the inspection was “clean the floors”. This had to be a joke! All tiled floors had been swept, vacuumed and mopped 36 hours prior, as I do weekly. So yeah, in that 36 hours prior to inspection, a couple of tiny grass clippings from mowing the lawns 24 hours prior had walked into the house (to note - REA DID NOT wipe their own feet when entering the house from either the front door or after checking the yard).

It was like they had a power trip and just HAD to find something to complain about. I thought that the purpose of an inspection was to check for major tenant damage, structural or water damage. Not to critique a few specs of tiny debris on a fully tiled house that was otherwise spotless. Now of course, I am expecting a shit show at end of lease. Bring it on! Any of you can read my history and know I will not take that crap.

My rant over, I would LOVE to hear your stories about the most insane comments you’ve had from the REA after an inspection.

Hey folks, just throwing an idea out here…

Backstory, previous landlord tried to pull us up on thousands of “damages” that were literally just wear and tear, pre-existing based on the agents photos or actual falsehoods as things that were dirty did not even exist. Got my full bond back.

Incoming to our new property, I spent a few hours photographing and documenting the anomalies. I’m talking a shattered glass front door, overgrown with weeds, missing light globes, leak marks under a bathroom sink, chip in the tile, air con not working in one room, stains on carpets, roach eggs and roaches behind the dishwasher and much more. NONE of which was on the REA’s incoming report. Personally, I photographed and documented EVERYTHING. I live in NQ and it was the peak of the wet season so it was not fun.

Thought occurred to me today - IF there were a business (best candidates would be end of lease cleaners) who came into the property and did a full inspection, photographs, move in condition report, would you consider asking them? Talking rates of $100 - $200 depending on the size of the property.

Not gonna be me starting a venture of this type. I am too time poor and honestly, lazy. I am just thinking I would rather pay a couple of hundred at start of lease to stop the REA from trying to screw me for thousands when I left.

Thoughts?

So, since my bleed a year and a bit ago, I have had some issues. Mostly expected and explained (short term memory malfunction, numerical dyslexia, short temper), but one other that is really doing my head in.

I call them my “brain crazies”. Waking up at 4am paranoid that I have not shut a certain window. Same window that has never been opened in the 5 months that we have lived in this house and it is permanently closed due to having a cat hammock fixed to it. Just in the last hour I have had two brain melts. First one I freaked out that the cat had run away, meanwhile the cat was in his bed next to my partner on the couch. Second one I was crying on the couch that I had gotten the cat things so wrong that he turned off the tv to give me a hug. He didn’t tell me as he did it and I freaked out that our power was off and we rely on the power for home security.

This doesn’t happen all the time, just every few days I will get an episode of the “Brain Crazies” where something logical will happen and I cannot wrap my head around it so I get stressed that something serious is happening. Mostly it is minor crap but tonight scared me a bit that a) it involved my cat and b) two in one night.

Is this the “new norm” to accept? It’s only a new thing, the last few months.
