First road bike, how is the fit? It feels like reach could be an issue
Hi, I am new to road cycling and currently testing a Canyon Endurace CF 7 AXS in size M that I got a good deal on. I can test it about 50 km and decide whether to keep it. Yesterday I did a 20 km ride and I'm not fully convinced by the fit.
The biggest issue is the reach. Riding on the hoods doesn't feel natural, I keep gravitating toward the flat section of the bar closer to me. My feeling is that if the reach were about 2–3 cm shorter it would suit me better.
What makes this annoying is that the bike has an integrated handlebar/stem combo, so swapping things out is expensive.
I have already moved the saddle forward and adjusted saddle height to where it feels comfortable.
My measurements:
- Height: 180 cm
- Inseam: 82 cm
- Arm length (acromion to closed fist, slight elbow bend): 56.6 cm
- Torso length (C7 to seat, upright): 64 cm
- Flexibility: low, can't touch the floor with straight legs
Does this sound like a reach issue, do I just need to get used to this position or could something else be the issue?
Looking forward to what you think!
