New cyclist fit check

Brand new cyclist as of this month. My stats are 66.5 inches tall, 29.5 inch inseam, 205 lbs.

Bike is a Trek Domane 52cm all factory components.

Curious on fit because the local shop didn’t really do a proper fitment for me, i’ve tweaked things and this is the best it’s felt so far. Nothing really feels uncomfortable to me but I feel as though seat could be slightly higher. Suggestions?

New bike, wrong size? Is the frame too big?

Hi all,

I just got a new bike but I’m unsure about the fit - particularly whether the frame is too big. I’m 193 cm with a 90 cm inseam, and the frame is an XL.

My guess is that the saddle is set a bit too high and needs to be lowered. But I’m worried the frame itself might just be too large. Can this be corrected by moving the saddle forward, or is it a lost cause?

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated!

Need some help

I am 191cm. This is a L frame.

A friend sold me this bike. Not sure if I should go for a XL frame. I put the saddle all the way back on the frame. In the video the frame looks super tiny. It was shot on wide angle maybe that makes it even worse.

Not 100% happy, on longer rides I get lower back pain. What are your thoughts?

Thank you for your help!

Different sellers swearing by different sizes

Im 5'8" (173cm), looking for a new gravel-ish bike. At the Trek store they put me on a 54cm frame for the Domane but I felt too overextended. 52 was a bit better. Also tried the Checkpoint Small and that was good.

Went to another bike shop in town and he put me on a Domane 49, which still felt fine, actually I think the frame on the 49/52 is same reach overall. He swore I should get a 49, didn't even want me to try the 52.

Checked out a guy that sells many bikes from his backyard who swore I need a 54 and no smaller.

It's all getting in my head a bit, as a new bike is a big purchase and I don't want to realize it's the wrong fit a couple months down the line.

Any thoughts? I think I have normal legs/arms proportion for my height.

Fit help. Reach feels a bit long (but I've never sat on a gravel bike before)

Update! Need your help guys!

Per your guys’ suggestions, I slammed my bars all the way down. Definitely feels more aero now for sure.

First of all, how does it look?

For those who haven’t seen my previous posts, I’m riding a slightly too-big Canyon Endurace CF SLX (according to Canyon’s size chart), but the deal was too good to pass up 😅

Now I’m thinking about changing the cockpit setup a bit.

Right now I have an integrated cockpit, and I’m wondering if I should switch to a shorter and narrower one. My bars currently feel pretty wide, and I’m thinking a slightly shorter reach might help the bike fit me better overall.

What do you guys think?

Second try

Hi everyone, what do you think about my bike fit?
In the previous attempt I was pedaling too much on my toes, so I adjusted a few things.
Is the saddle height correct like this?

194cm rider - good deal on a Dogma F ($8k) but worried I’m forcing myself onto a 57.5. Need fit advice.

Hey everyone,

I’m stuck in a bike-fit dilemma and hoping to get input from people who know Pinarello geometry better than I do.

I found what seems like a really good deal on a 2024 Pinarello Dogma F for around $8,000 USD:

  • Size 57.5
  • Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 12-speed
  • Princeton Peak 4550 EVO wheels
  • March 2024 bike
  • Integrated MOST Talon cockpit
  • Bike appears to be in very good condition

The issue is the fit.

I’m 194 cm (6'4"), and from everything online, I should probably be looking at a 59.5 or maybe even a 62.

But my fit is a bit unusual.

Current bike:

  • S-Works SL6
  • Size 58
  • 150 mm stem
  • Fairly aggressive position

Bike fit coordinates:

  • Handlebar reach: 632 mm
  • Grip reach: 749 mm
  • Bar drop: 170 mm
  • Grip width: 378 mm

So I clearly need a pretty long front end.

The confusing part is that when I compare geometries, the 57.5 Dogma isn’t dramatically shorter than the 59.5 in reach, but it is lower in stack.

Can I make the 57.5 work with a long cockpit and maybe some spacer adjustment?

Wrist comfort question?

Hi wonderful fitters of the internet. I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I am not sure where else to ask. My wife has gotten into cycling with me. For her birthday a few years ago I took her to a lbs and let her pick out a bike. She rode one for fun as a kid and around campus in college but nothing serious on trails or roads. I tried to get her on a gravel bike or a maybe a hardtail mountain bike but she really wanted a step through cruiser type. We rode a decent amount on local roads that year but she has not ridden much since. We were talking about bikes the other day and it turns out she has been secretly riding my surly straggler and loves it💜. We are the same height so that works. My question (finally) is this; She has wrist pain whenever she rides, I was wondering if you all had any ideas for something that might help? Right now my bike has flat bars and I could change them out but she says she thinks she prefers flat bars.
I am not sure if these are still a thing but the handlebar ends that all mountain bike from the late 90’s and early 00’s the bull horn ones. Are they still a thing and could that help? Or am I looking at changing out the bars completely and to what?
When she works on her computer she has a vertical ergonomic anti fatigue mouse that keeps her wrist pain free and that is what made me wonder could changing her grip help?
Thanks in advance. I am happy to answer any questions.

Bike size for short legs

Hi everyone.

So i'm planning to buy a new bike frame. It'll have the same geometry as the **Specialized Aethos/Tarmac SL8**.

However, my body proportion is kinda whack. I'm a sausage dog - like Bikefit James would say - at 177cm tall and 74cm inseam. Abnormally short legs.

So would you guys say that i'm better off with size 52 or 54cm of said frame? (Pretty sure size 49 would be too small and 56 would be too large) TIA.

Road bikes for shorter women/short torso

I am not able to find a road bike off the rack that fits my body. I am 5' 2 1/2" or 5'3, 125# but VERY short torso and average leg length. I wear a petite in tops but a normal length pants. I have severe degenerative disc disease and stenosis and blew out my l4 disc on a bike that didn't fit years ago.

Does anyone own a road bike such as a Liv Bike with my type of proportions and feel good on it? If you do, could you name the makers and how you got it to fit?

Unfortunately, fit gets more and more important for me as I age. My first road bike after I was 40 was actually, I found out, the same geometry as the men's they sold, it was too long and dropped and they called it "womens" road bike (Turned out to be a mens Fuji that Fuji painted a cute purple, added a women's saddle and called it women's), and blew out a lumbar disc and was in agony for a year. The Shortest stem wouldn't even come close to making it fit better.

I have given up long rides until i can find a properly fitting bike. I am extremely short through the waist, narrow shoulders, and average/long legs for my height. I started this way in life and it gets worse each year due to disc compression as my spine gets shorter.

Because Liv is the only company still making road bikes designed for women, I looked at them but they still are not great for my body size. I don't know why. I would like a top tube length of about 505 mm. In 2011 Specialized built a Ruby that fit me and I waited a couple years to afford it but between 2012 and 2013 they changed the geometry then discontinued women's frames. i ordered it in between the size change and the catalog didn't reflect the new sizing so my bike is still too long through the reach.

Thanks in advance!

Opinions on my and my girlfriends riding position

My girlfriend rides Capriolo city bike and feels ok just her hand position on bars is slightly awkward (photo in comments) and we wonder if her saddle height is good.

Im on a Giant Talon 3 GE and i feel neck pain while driving and always have need to stretch and look down for few moments and always feel like leaning forward too much, its L frame(im 83cm inseam and frame is 19")
Looking for a raise bar (50mm) hopefully that solves my leaning forward and neck pain.

Any suggestions and advices welcome, thanks im advance :)
