Let’s talk about the downtown movie scene, specifically the chain theaters. Both Regal and AMC seem to be in states of neglect and disrepair, though AMC is in a far worse position being in Pacific Place. Management at Pacific Place seems to be trying to revive the mall, though the entire downtown area needs all the help it can get post-Covid.

I was just at AMC last night, and since i’m an A-Lister and frequent all of the AMCs at least once to twice a week, I think I’ve got a good read into this:

-Men’s bathroom had a water leak, and someone didn’t try to really clean it up. Two broken urinals, and one broken stall with water all over the floor.

-Escalator has been broken for at least 6 months, so in order to leave from the top floor you have to exit via a very scary emergency stairwell.

-Bar area that needs a lot of help in terms of quality and substance. Needs atmosphere and some more selections.

-All of the theaters have old style seating. This needs to be updated to stay competitive with Regal or at least other AMCs. Get rid of the floor seating and either put in recliners or terraced seating.

-Get an IMAX and Dolby Theater

OR

Close it.
