Odyssey IMAX v. Dolby
Hey y’all! Do yall recommend watching the odyssey in standard IMAX with laser or Dolby?
I’d love to watch it in IMAX 70mm but the nearest theater is about 10 hours away.
What do y’all think?

Does anyone know if the next Screen Unseen movie on 7/20 is an IMAX movie? Usually tickets would be for sale by now, but they are not for my theatre and I am wondering if it is because it is IMAX, which my theatre does not have the capability to show.
Dolby gets a ton of hype and seems like the people who post that like it say how much better it is over IMAX.
I've only been to the Mercado 20 one though, which apparently people say is the best one in the Bay Area. So supposedly I'm seeing it in a good theater and I've tried sitting in each of the the 3 rows behind the handicap (I think D, E, F?). Yes its a nice large screen, but to me it feels like I'm sitting to far away from it even in row D?
IMAX at both Sunnyvale and Mercado 20 I feel fully immersed in the screen. Certainly the sound at the IMAX at the Mercado needs a refresh, but for me I notice that less then feeling like I'm watching a very large screen but I'm not close enough to it to enjoy the immersion of the large screen in the Dolby theater. As far as the audio goes, I felt like the IMAX sound in the Sunnyvale one is just as good as the sound at the Dolby theater at the Mercado.
I also think it has do with how the Dolby theater is a flat screen and the IMAX are curved screens (although I was looking a it looks like the Sunnyvale Dolby is curved)? I should probably try the Sunnyvale Dolby to see if its better.
For me personally I'd say that yes the IMAX at the Mercado is the best immersive experience and I'd certainly prefer seeing things like Star Wars in 3D there, but for more "everyday" movies (going to see Moana this week) that I'm preferring the Sunnyvale IMAX due to the recliners, sitting in those IMAX rockers suck and I'll only deal with it for major films I'm really excited to see in 3D.
I also haven't really noticed the contrast and HDR difference that Dolby is supposed to have over IMAX. Was this a bigger difference maybe before we had laser and were still using Xenon bulbs?
I'm just very confused as people really hype up Dolby and for me I'm just not getting that "amazing" experience they seem to be getting. What am I missing?
So, it’s been almost two weeks since they implemented the security at Citywalk. As someone who does not intend to go back unless they add some sort of AMC only entrance, I’m curious about how it is at AMC now. Has attendance declined? Has anyone talked to security or the theatre to get their feeling on how it is affecting AMC?
A frenchie like me don’t need it 🥖🎥

Has anyone else noticed this lately?
People aren’t even trying to hide outside food or drinks anymore. They’ll walk in carrying drinks (other than water), walking in with takeouts in their hands like it’s completelyyy normal. Then when you tell them they can’t bring it inside, they’ll argue and justify and call out for a manager to try to change the policy for them. basically causing a whole scene while the ticket reader entrance is getting backed up
The part that gets me is when I actually let someone slide because they concealed it properly, and then they immediately pull it out in the lobby once they get through or while waiting in the concession line. 😭 Like bro… if I let you in with it, at least wait until you’re in the auditorium so I don’t look bad if another employee or manager walks by****…(which I’ve already been talked to by my manager for and got written up**)**
so is this happening everywhere, or is it just my theater? I don’t know if it’s confirmation bias, but I’ve also noticed the same people who bring in outside food seem to be the ones who leave their trash behind for the usher crew to stumble upon.
So now I have two seats secured. FINALLYYYYYY.....
Which one should I choose as my final one to see the movie. This is my first time ever in NYC.
For those of us who buy food and drinks at AMC, what are your go to favorites? Personally, I love the big pretzel.
I have the option to watch it in: IMAX with Laser at AMC, Dolby Cinema at AMC, and 70mm.
Which format is the best quality? Which one should I go to?
Thanks!
[The new odyssey movie coming out]
I had all these tickets for today but my theater lost power and now i cant drop any of the tickets and go to another one
Anybody know why all the Castleton 14 showings are getting canceled yesterday, today, and tomorrow? Wasn’t sure if it was an AC issue, holiday staffing issue, or something more serious.
AMC signature recliners, Laser at AMC was wondering what the best seat option would be! thank you
Visiting NYC next week and will be in or around Times Square. What theaters do I have to check out while I’m there? I have A list in a cheaper market but am willing to blow through all 4 of my out of market movies for 2026. I’m in a smaller market so I’ve never been to an XL, or a true IMAX, Dolby and Prime are the only upgrades in my market.
The amc a list reddit mods are fucking nerds and delete everything so maybe i can share this here because it’s literally news
Bragging about how much money they made… More than ever? Look I am glad that AMC is doing well. I want movies to keep going in theaters but they keep raising our prices despite doing well.
Again, I wish they had different tiers.
According to their own statistics, their average A-lister only sees about 2 1/2 movies. So we pay for the other people that see upwards of 10-16 a month… more power to you… I really really wish that I could do that.
Sadly, it’s hard for me to even make two movies a month so it looks like I have to look at other options , which makes me sad because I know they don’t allow us to rejoin for another six months which I also think is unfair since I’ve been so loyal for so long.
I wish they had a bracket. I’ve just offered 2 to 3 movies a month. $20 versus the $30 I pay right now.
