Getting Out of Loan
I’m really hoping that somebody can help me here, this has been such a stressor for me for over 7 years.
My ex partner and I financed a camping trailer together to live in over 7 years ago and then he broke up with me not even 2 months after we got it.
As far as I know we are both on the ownership, I’m waiting to hear back from the company we bought it from to double check this.
He kept the trailer and has been making the minimum payments but it is still under my name and there is over $30k owing on it.
My fiancé and I are hoping to buy a house soon and this added debt does not help us.
I have pleaded with my ex over the years to get a loan in his own name to pay off the current loan to get the trailer just in his name but he will not do it.
The bank that the loan is through is Scotiabank and they said the only way would be to sell it or pay the loan off. I’m not sure how I could sell it when I don’t have it and I don’t want to pay that much money for something I don’t have.
Can somebody please tell me how I can move forward?
