Hi guys! For those who took Social Sciences at McMaster, what were the best or most interesting first-year classes you took? Any you’d recommend or really enjoyed?

I was wondering if anyone at McMaster could explain when first-year students pick their courses and how the process works? Like is it before starting in September or after accepting the offer?”

Hey everyone! I’m trying to decide between taking Health and Society or Social Science next year, and I’d really appreciate some advice from anyone who has taken either course.

I’m looking at this while thinking about future med school electives and overall academic planning, so I’m trying to figure out:

  • Which course is generally easier in terms of workload, assignments, and tests
  • Which one is more straightforward to achieve a high GPA And which one might be more useful or relevant for a future in health/medicine

If you’ve taken either one (or both), I’d love to hear your honest experience what the course was like, how hard it was to get good grades, and any tips. Thanks so much!

I’m currently a Grade 12 student and I just wanted to ask for some insight about my chances of being accepted into McMaster.

I followed the recommendation for the Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour (PNB) program, which suggested taking Calculus and Functions. In those courses, I achieved a 95 in one and an 85 in the other. I’m not sure if following the recommendation really matters for admission, but I wanted to mention it anyway.

My current overall average is about an 83, and I was wondering how competitive that would be for admission into PNB this year, or if I’m within a reasonable range.
