Im New and Need Help plz
This is the base of my Ring of Fire Philodendren. I can see where the new leaf spike is coming up out of the sheath but what are these spikey leaf looking things coming out of the side? Aerial roots? They just look so thick and the pink tops look like what I new leaf looks like. I tucked the tip of one into my new moss pole but they just dont look like the examples of aerial roots ive seen on Google. Any help would be appreciated, this is my last house plant (ive killed the rest from neglect when pregnant last year) and I would like this one to thrive 🥲
Edit to say after some research and the help from comments I believe these are called "basal shoots". If they mature or if the plant decides to focus energy to them, they will have their own new growth. Maybe this can help someone else in the future.
