Good news for medical patients, Great news if it passes

A new 2026 Illinois cannabis omnibus bill working it’s way through includes a major fix for medical patients: allowing them to shop at any dispensary, including rec‑only, while still getting the medical tax rate.
Because it’s now part of the omnibus (the type of bill leadership actually moves), the odds of it passing are much better this year — roughly a better‑than‑even chance.
If it passes this session, it would take effect this year.
