Trying to recall my memory about GM

My coworker asked me about GM today, and I told her that, aside from the stacked-ranking system especially before itGM is actually a pretty chill place to work. The people are nice, the workload is manageable, and the work-life balance is good. Especially depends on the team you join. The scary part is the layoffs, plus the whole open-office situation.
So I asked her to choose between GM and our current team.
My team is a whole different story. When I started here last February, I knew 10 people. Out of those 10, only 3 are still here. And no, they weren’t fired 😂. Our boss just has a special talent for making people’s lives miserable. I think Nobita was born with it. (I nicknamed him Nobita from doraemon in my brain because I swear to god he does look like Nobita.)🤣
The project I just completed originally had four people who worked on it in past and never got it to completion . All four quit before 14 months😂. I literally just found out today that even our HR rep doesn’t like our boss.
But the funny thing is, I’ve actually been trying to keep this guy on the throne because the second-in-command is WAY more evil than him. It’s like comparing a Fiat to a Ferrari. 😭
So even when I don’t like my boss, I put on an act like he’s the greatest boss ever and leave him good reviews. Why? Because I absolutely do NOT want the other guy becoming my boss. Plus I reported the other guy to HR once😂
Then I asked my coworker: “Okay, your office is right next to the restroom, which is already questionable. Would you still choose that over GM’s open-office setup and the extra bonus?”
She said, “HELL NO!!! What if I’m about to gas/fart?!” 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
That girl is crazy, I swear. 😂
But honestly, the biggest thing I’ve realized is how much I’ve grown, and a lot of that growth came from GM. Aside from the psychological pressure and a few difficult people, GM was actually a pretty cool place to work.
To be honest, if I hadn’t matured as much as I have, I probably would’ve quit this team within my first 2–3 months. Even me have become surprised at how good I have become at acting.
I worked in IS&T and later on the business side at GM, and I can confidently say that Team Center in IS&T was the best team I’ve ever worked with.
I heard my former boss got laid off too. But if I could rewind my life and go back to that time, I swear to God, I’d trade my $156K salary today for the $87K I was making back then just to stay at Team Center. 😭
Sometimes you really don’t realize how good a workplace was until you leave it. My life right now is like Jon Yoo Gun from Iris. Always one battle after another mhen. So when I come to this chat and I see you guys complaining, am like mhen, they need to move these guys to my team for a month. 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
