AITA for not showing up to my babyshower that my mil paid for
I23F am pregnant with my first child. My MIL wanted to throw the baby shower and fund it. She had told me she invited husband aunt who she knew I was not a fan of and we never get along. Every time we spoke she was nothing but rude to me, she also accused me of not being ready to be a mother due to my age and situation. She just is way too nosy, and it even irritates my husband. I told my MIL I did not want her to go, my mil said since she’s paying for it, her sister will be there. I told her to cancel the party then if she was so dead set on inviting her, she said no stuff was already ordered and that I will change my mind.
I did not change my mind, and told my mil as well as my husband that I wanted the party canceled. She ignored me. Day of, I didn’t go, I had zero intention of going and made that very clear. I guess some people did still show up and my mil thought I was lying about how much I didn’t want to go. Afterwards she called me ungrateful and that she had spent a lot of money and time working on this and it was ridiculous I ruined the day over one person and that I wasted other people’s time and money.
